apple/itunes question WTF???????

OK, so i bought a 120gig ipod for a smoking deal, then commensed to ripping my CD's into it (so far i am at 320 out of 1000) i also ripped 5 songs from rapid share into it.

for X-mas my brother gave me a $15 itunes card, super!
so i log on to itunes, and to be honest i really didn't find much misic that i want to buy, but in down loaded 2 songs no issues.

when i went to resync my ipod the 5 songs i had ripped from rapid share were gone from my ipod and i now had a message that the songs could no longer be found????? WTF?????

so i went into best buy today and asked a couple of people there if this is some vindictive shit that apple/itunes pulls since (i had the songs and had listened to them just the day before and now they were gone) i did not get the songs from them???

they both told me yes, apple installs spy-ware through i tunes that does that so you have to buy music only from itunes. fuck you, are you joking?????

i was told i would have to save all the songs to a memory stick/flashdrive, uninstall itunes and then reinstall the songs on the ipod.

is this true?????

if so what can i do so i don't have this BS happen again other than not use itunes (*which i won't)

do i need to have itunes software to run the ipod and rip cd's????

It is a pita to use, and with 120gigs of music on my machine it would take days to convert over to AAC format.

i bought it at circuit city NEW open box for $100 (it was the floor demo and they didn't realize that they still had it)

do this mean i am going to have to loose the week and a half of ripping cd's now?

where do i go from here?
i still have 12 songs credit on the card, i might as well use it, i guess.
can i switch everything after i am done ripping the rest of the CD's and the downloads with out losing everything?

I don't even fully understand what your post is about. The people at Best Buy sound like they don't know what they are talking about. I use itunes and it works wonderfully. Not a single one of my songs was purchased through the itunes store. Maybe you just had a syncing issue. Even if the songs have somehow been deleted from your ipod they should still be on your hard drive. Just drag all the music you want on your ipod into itunes and resync it.

WTF? Are you saying that music has to be in aac format to use itunes? That is bs. I use itunes and every single one of my songs is mp3.

The whole spyware thing is complete bullshit. I don't know what happened to them but instead of blaming Apple for a couple missing songs, why not just try downloading them again and resyncing your ipod. Ipods can be finicky sometimes.
