that is what i wanted to know before i proceeded to rip more cd's into it. that is boring as shit to sit and do and with the amount of time it has taken me just to get this far, i didn't want to loose ground.
i wasn't necessarily blaming itunes completely, i just did not know. i found it a little hard to swallow that they did that, but hey what do i know. i have never heard any really good things about apple from any of my friends that do IT stuff.
i couldn't get a hold of either of them today to ask.
so i headed down to the nearest big box store to ask them. that is the answer i get from 2 people there.
still skeptical, i ask the same question here
just trying to get the correct answer and move onseien Sie größer, als Sie erscheinen

Here's some advice, not sure what kinda problems your having, but what I would do is go to your itunes. Click edit, Go all the way down to preferences and click. A pop up should come up and look like this.

Go to the advanced tab, and check "copy to itunes folder" box. What that does is create a copy of whatever you add to your library to a special folder for itunes. This pretty much keeps your music in one place and not scattered all over the place. What sometimes happens is that people move folders around or delete music files without ever knowing they did and itunes loses track of the music file. After doing this there should be no reason for music just disapearing outta no where. Hope this helps.Comment

And while your at it click on the importing tab and make sure what ever music you rip on to your itunes from a CD is an mp3 file. It will save you the hassle of converting from another type of music file if you ever decide to go with another music player. Mp3's are compatible with pretty much every music player you can think of. I think by default songs ripped from cds are made into AAC files. ;)

Again, I hope this helps somehow.Comment

if i were you i would do a search on your computer for the files. The files might not be in itunes and itunes did not delete them so just find them and open them in itunes again.also when you rip a cd onto your computer it is not just going into itunes it is creating a folder for that artist and then opening the file in itunes so if it gets deleted from itunes that doesnt mean it is deleted from your hard drive.
I use the newest itunes and have downloaded songs, songs purchased from the itunes store and plenty of ripped cd's and steve jobs hasnt hacked into my computer to delete my files yet. I do use a mac computer tho so its pretty seamless. if you need specific help im decent with itunes on windows so you can pm with questions.Greg
