"A bunch of particles"
O LAWD TEH PARTICLES
Looks like we are past the Global Warming thing

for those that dont know why global warming would cause the Earth to cool. That's what I was going to say after reading the title... You can't argue with climate change, it always happens, a little here, a little there, the trouble with global warming theory is something called equilibrium, if it gets too warm then the planet starts to cool, more too it than that, but a good start for some :firehop:
Here is the theory: By melting the ice caps you release a bunch of particles into the ocean which slows the circulation of water, (the circulating brings heat to the colder areas of Earth). thus global cooling.Leave a comment:

that was a good choice cause by stating "you guys know nothing about climate" change you added yourself to "you guys"
You said the increase of co2 throws off the whole system??? Did you know that carbon dioxide makes up only 38 out of every 100,000 particles in the atmosphere?
That's about twice as what there were in the atmosphere in the time we started burning fossil fuels, so it's gone up, but it's still a tiny compound.Leave a comment:

Ok for all those that say. All the CO2 we produce will be absorbed. Let me ask you a question.
Do you think there is a limit of how much CO2 can be absorbed, dissipated, etc. by the Earth, before something changes in the enviorment or do you think that there is no such thing as to much CO2?
If you agree with the first statement, Then why the hell would you not try and produce as little as possible?
If you agreed with the second statement. Then please feel free to think more.
None of the evidence of global warming convinces me, but why would you not try to limit the amount of poisonous gas you introduce to the environment?
And to conserve our supplies. Eventually we will run out of fuel, the only question is when.Leave a comment:

What exactly do you think that means? That is not proof of anything, rather a theory. No shit warming occurred during industrialization, that was man made warming. Right now theres no PROOF of anything. I think itd be ignorant to say its 100% man made... just as ignorant as it is to say its 100% natural."the years 1998-2005 global average temperature did not increase (there was actually a slight decrease, though not at a rate that differs significantly from zero). "
"One might argue the 28-year-long period of warming which occurred between 1970 and 1998 constitutes a dangerous (and man-made) warming.
"A period of similar warming occurred between 1918 and 1940, well prior to the greatest phase of world industrialisation, and that cooling occurred between 1940 and 1965, at precisely the time that human emissions were increasing at their greatest rate."Leave a comment:

for my son's sake, i hope you guys that think global warming is a crock are right.Leave a comment:

Well, either way, it can not be denied that the Earth's temperature is rising. It is a fact. Now what is causing it IS debatable, whether its human or natural. Im not too set on either one, personally. It is a fact that we are at our highest population ever, so there will be more greenhouse gases emitted. But its also known that the Earth goes through natural temperature rises, due to solar flares.
I think the best thing we can do is keep an open mind both ways....

A more accurate description of the "global warming" phenomenon would be "global climate change", which is definitely occuring.Leave a comment:

+1 with the rise of the human population natural resources will EVENTUALLY dwindle to nothing. i dont have any numbers, but id be interested as to how many people this planet can support. i think we should be prepared for colonizing other planets. it would take decades or even centuries before our technology would allow us to do this, im hoping that we figure it out in time.Leave a comment:

318, yes there was a big freak out about the next ice age in the 70's, but CO2 accouants for less than 1% of all green house gasses in the atmosphere and about .036% of the total atmosphere. So a bit more CO2 that we produce has no effect as the oceans can absorb 100x the amount that we produce.
wait till we get the resident three hugging hippies on here to tell us all about it. Has any one else noticed that they have gotten away from global warming and now the greenies are just calling it climate change!!!!!!!!! Thats what I find really funny!Leave a comment:
