The oceans probably did become acidic, killing off the reefs. But that was how long ago? lol. Reefs go through a natural cycle of flourishing and dying, its a cycle that will continue. Now those points you made are correct. A Volcano could have devastating effects on our reefs. Volcanoes actually give off some sort of particles that cause a cooling effect on the earth (Not too familiar with what they are, I do recall the lecture in marine bio, though). There are other things that could be detrimental to reefs as well. So again, theres not really anything you are posting, besides more information, that is disproving what I said.

Theres one difference between volcanoes and humans: One we can control. One we can not.

edit: Also, Im also aware about the volcanoes leaking CO2 into the water. There are hydrothermal vents throughout the floor of the ocean. Those give life to a bunch of different chemosynthetic beings, so its not necessarily ALL a bad thing. Its when it gets into excess, that it is a bad thing.. kinda like CO2 in excess is a bad thing out of water. As is anything in excess, there is an equilibrium to obtain.

On that note, I am out of here for the night.

GW was created to make money. It's curently making all kinds of money for people...because as GW proves, people are suckers.

Nuclear power is also the real way to go.

ok you have a point about cycling of the reefs I know that but very little about it (marine biology is not a interest if mine in the least) Just saying our very small amount of CO2 production is having nothing to do with our current "climate change". We have good accurate records for the weather for what 150 years right??? How long has the earth been around for?? 4.5 billion so we know what kinda cycles this the planet goes through on the short term but know so little about the long term. We can get good educated guess about it form geologic an ice core data but that leaves lots of questions as well.

I'm sure C02 was the cause for the little ice age as well...

I never disputed any of this. I said in one of my first posts, that my view was it is ignorant to dismiss either cause of this warming, whether it be natural or man made. I was expressing the concern towards the reefs (one of three things I do love).

Also, you kind of shoot yourself in the foot when you say that co2 particles are twice what they were when we started burning fossil fuels. What exactly are you arguing?
co2 is 38 parts per million, a trace element, and it's effect is logrithmic. you have to quadruple co2 to get a double of whatever effect it supposedly is having

Or at least not as many plants we need to keep up with our CO2 outputs. You can doubt CO2 is a problem, but its a proven fact that it is raising, and it is detrimental to us. If not to our atmospheric gases alone, but to the coral reefs certainly.

not at all. the quote says in essence there won't be enough room for plants to grow because of overpopulation.
i'd like to know i guess what % of world wide land mass is physically occupied by man. i'm guessing it's way under 10%.
