I don't like the iTouch, hence why I didn't get the Zune touch. I also don't like the small flimsy zunes/ipods hence why I got the 30 gig zune!

If it weren't for the iPod Mac would probably be circling the drain, what computers were out when they made the ipod first? The eMac? Their computers have come a long way but they are still a joke to PC's.

yes, saying if it weren't for the ipod mac would be nowhere is like saying if it weren't for Vista microsoft would be nowhere.......... fuck, wait a minute, i mean if it weren't for the 30gig zune microsoft would be nowhere..........fuck, wait a minute, i mean if it weren't for XP microsoft would be nowhere.......there, i got it.

ever wonder why microsoft stock traded at 60 in 1999 and is now just over 19? and why apple was at about 6, and now trades just over 84?
yes, your right, they're obviously a piece of shit

mac makes a very good computer. and thats good that there are not very many viruses for macs, if you want viruses get a windows or whatever. to me, its just a personal preference. not bagging on you or other non mac owners. windows is just not my style. i like how easy it is to use a mac. i mainly use mine for school projects, video editing (bingo) ((Final Cut Pro)), odds and ends, ect. a PC is just to plain and blahh. i dont like having a huge tower by my feet. im sure other non mac companies make those but the i dont like the styling.

Oh I'm sorry since ANYONE in the world said that vista was a good thing or that microsoft runs of Zune profits. Microsoft is where it is because it was the ONLY os for quite some time. What can be done with a mac when it gets old? Pc's can be upgraded instead of just discarded.

And to the stock bit. Look around, people are getting dumber! There are more and more people that need an os that is simple and easy to use, this is why vista looks like a Mac rip off. Because it is, they realized this and went with what they thought would make them money. Also mac was the better way to go if you were into film/photo editing.

PS: Sorry if any of you mac users aren't a perfect fit for the stereotypical mac buyer/user.

I understand you're uses fully. I'm however big into PC gaming and as far as I know the field of work I'll be going into isn't mac friendly.

I'm not the opposite on the styling but I like to be able to open up my machine and replace things/upgrade some stuff. Idk how easy it is to open up the monitor/computer mac and work on it but I would not like to do so myself.

ahh i see. yeah, i dont play games on my computer..nor at home. dont have time lol. but everyone has a separate reason for their choice of a computer, and theres a computer that fits everyone.

but you're a more of a hands on type of guy (opening it up, taking it apart, kinda?). ive never opened my mac simply because ive never had the reason to do so.

wow.. this thread picked up.. since this moved from zunes to a critique of Macs, i'll try to come at it from my pov. firstly some background, I work in IT for a major financial and use Windows, Linux, Solaris at work (on the order of multiple thousands of Unix servers). At work Windows XP is on my desktop.

At home I predominantly use Mac after switching about 3 yrs ago. I do have a brand new PC running Vista purely so I can run racing sims. Prior to that I have gone from Sinclair ZX-1 to Commodore VIC, Apple IIe to IBM XT running DOS to Linux and a lot in between in the last 18 years of PC usage. I ran Linux exclusively at home for many years but I've gotten tired of messing around with the PC/OS when I'm home. I do enough of that at work. I just want it to work, out of the box and let me get stuff done. Apple products do that. I don't have to worry about drivers and anti-virus and malware and all that junk. If I want to dabble, MacOSX is based off Mach (a unix variant), and has Unix command terminal with all the unix tools too but i can realistically say i hardly go there. The OS is stable, easy to use/learn and intuitive. In my experience it's the best user oriented OS out there. As for hardware upgrades, after the switch to Intel 3yrs ago, the architecture is pretty much industry standard and user serviceable by the power user. For example, I upgraded the HDD in my MacBook Pro with minimum effort. Apple customer service so far has been excellent too. They even replaced by battery outside the warranty period. Try getting Dell to do that. Finally, it's nice to be able to walk into a company store and speak to a real person than some ignoramus spieling back some script at you on a support hotline.

ps : speaking of stereotypical mac users, you'd be surprised how many professionals whether in engineering, or IT use Macs, if not at work (due to company policy), at home.

i use windows at work exclusively, and a mac at home, precisely because i don't need to know squat about the OS, and when you unpack a mac and plug it in, you're set up and going in under 5 minutes. very simple, and it works every time.

btw - the computer that runs windows the fastest is a mac

Mine did this shit too :( Couldn't have been at a worse time, I lost a bunch of music because my computer crashed, so I was keeping it on my zune so I could copy it back when I found out how to use it as a hard drive. Hopefully I don't lose all my stuff...
