guys, I have been thinking about switching over to Linux for a long time.
Being a retard has its disadvantages though, and I worry about not being geek enough to handle it.
I have a hauppague TV tuner, the HVR1250, which I think has Linux drivers available, but I also need Windows Media Player, unless something else rips in .WMA as good as the real thing @192Kbps.
So the real goal is to get to where I feel comfy setting up a LinuxMCE install that the wife feels safe in using. We both have Low Profile Dell commercial P4 3.0HT w/2GB DDR2 RAM, SATA HDD, PCIe NVidia 8300 256MB (x16, of course) and onboard sound/GB ethernet/basic video, so I assume we have enough power to do as we please with Linux.
DVD ripping is important, as is CD/DVD burning, plus I want to play Bluray movies, and of course play music/movies.
Does Chrome work on Linux yet?
Suggestions? Ideas?
Luke
