hahaha Red Dawn was made in the early 80s I want to say 84. That movie was great and a cult classic and spun the whole survivor mentality.

Remember every great nation at one time or another has fallen. Will you be ready?

edit, if your watching that on Spike tonight... its cut up and missing many parts of the movie. Its worth the $5 at the local walmart DVD box...

George Washington did not say that..............

This is a false quote, but bits and pieces of it still continue to crop up from time to time. Even national publications, such as Playboy magazine, have been snared by it. (Playboy published the "quote" in December 1995 as part of an article entitled "Once and for All: What the Founding Fathers Said About Guns". After consulting with an assistant editor of the George Washington Papers at the University of Virginia, Playboy published a lengthy correction in March 1996.)

I got what you were saying the 2nd time you posted that....

I was searching for the quote "An armed society is a polite society.
Manners are good when one may have to back up his acts with his life." when I came across that one I have in my sig. I cut and pasted it in my sig. Ill be hunting for a new one, even though the quote is dead on. George or no George.

        Thanks for the correction!

Red Dawn is one of my favorite movies. I wish that would happen here in the USA....oh wait I bet it will.

Hey what channel is Red Dawn on? Star Wars is on Spike.

There was a game made for the xbox called Freedom Fighters which reminds me of Red Dawn. I loved it.

Well, posterity, you will never know what it cost us to preserve your freedom. I only hope that you will make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that I ever took half the pains to preserve it.

nothing I wish would happen. I enjoy running water and cold beer. I enjoy sitting on a toilet to drop a deuce. There are so many things we take for granted that if something like that happened we would lose. Everything we know today would no longer exist. You guys that live up in the PNW have no idea what its like to spend a summer in the south. Or us southerners spending winter outside in the PNW. Its all good sitting behind a computer dreaming of what ifs. I dont wish that upon anyone.

But I also say, you might want to prepare just in case. Its like having that spare tire in your trunk or a AAA card in your wallet. With the way the world is going today my training and supply stash might come in handy. If not it hurt no one. I guess its that boy scout motto that has stayed in me.

You know I agree with you.

              Be Prepared

On my honor I will do my best To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.

I was a boy scout but never made eagle :( I thought I was too cool.

ok... so a couple people have said they own guns "just in case", just in case of what? I know the world is going down the tubes and I hope to not see the shit at the end of the pipe. We have out grown and use too many resources to survive much longer, there's no doubt about that. If one resource fails at any point in "our" lifetime we are screwed!!

So back to my question is why do you own a Assault rifle if you don't hunt? its for fun, I enjoy to skeet shoot! who has fun with an assault rifle? Can't you have the same amount of fun shooting a regular rifle? Please people in the military don't say you're having fun killing people with your M16's! Ok its a piece of art! Great its an engineering marvel. That means you don't own ammo right? cause who would want to ruin a piece of engineering with firing it and have a carbon build up. My point is assault rifles are owned for one purpose TO DEFEND!

Yes we need to stand up for our constitutional rights, there's no one hear that would say that differently. But who says I can't pee my name on a wall? that's freedom of speech right? Oh my State has something called indecent exposure, my point is the state's should regulate just as they're doing now what kind's of guns we can have, not the government.

For the dumbass who posted about carrying a gun while hiking there are things you can do without killing the fucking animal and keep your ass safe.I know plenty of people who have seen black bears and have not ever been hurt and didn't have to carry a .44 to feel safe. I have seen brown bears in nature myself and unless your a complete dumbass you don't need a revolver to feel safe around one. That's the kind of stupid Idea's that put our asses in this position (bent over with pants down).

It comes down to "who are you to tell me what is good or not good for me"? If I am responsible and use it for sporting purposes whats the difference in me owning something like this vs a race car for what "I" call fun.

I can kill more people with a truck or a car by driving into a crowded street than I possibly could with a gun. Your question is why do you need one? Why do you need a spare tire or a AAA card. Just in case. In case of what you might ask? The unknown, our founding fathers gave us that right to carry what we felt was enough to defend ourselves against our own government. Or other governments! We are a free people and we must have the same or adequate firepower to protect ones self and ones family.

Im no John Rambo and don't play one on tv. But as my right to own one If I am responsible enough to understand. I understand the effects that a "assault "Style" weapon" has if used wrongly. I also understand the effects of me using that "ASW" in a wrong manor. They are not toys but tools and if you don't understand or respect a chainsaw its going to produce grave results as well.

The point is more people get killed with cars, cigarettes, and alcohol. But because its accepted by the masses it gets overlooked. Today guns are not the common in most houses. Thus breads fear for not understanding them. Fear breads curiosity, and curiosity to the uneducated causes problems.

abepark and others, I ask you would take time to watch this!

                    The Truth about "Assault Weapons"

but why do you own it? just cause you can and you're licensed? deep down inside there was a reason you bought that AR15 or any other Assault class weapon. what was it? I'm not telling you whats good for you and whats not, I'm just trying to understand.

Please watch the video I posted....

in most states you do not have to have a license to own a firearm. So for the most part most of mine are not licensed because you cant license them. I also own class 3 weapons, meaning NFA items. Even if you ban firearms like in the list on the first page. I still can own class 3 weapons. The federal Government has enough trust and faith in me to own such weapons. I also have been able to afford such expensive weapons.

I shoot in tactical matches. I also take and teach firearm training. I educate people in the use and mechanics of firearms. My favorite type of shooting is 3 gun matches. Were I have a carbine, shotgun, and a pistol and I am judged on targets hit and the time I am able to do it in.

I guess kind of like racing cars in the gun world. Its legal and I enjoy it. I posted my latest build. That gun costs more than $3k US to build. And thats if you can find the parts. They are on some of the longest back orders known in the industry. Thats my Porsche or super car of my collection. Nothing you would ever find on the street in some gangbangers car or drive by.

Its just what I enjoy doing.

yeah, that comment kind of said he has not been in the wild that much. I was in Alaska this fall and it was right before the bears were to go down for the winter. Making them hunting for food.... any food to be able to pack on enough fat to go into hibernation, In Alaska open carry is legal everywhere. And is not looked at like it is here in the lower 48. I felt odd carrying openly but looking around everyone else was as well. When a 1000 pound hungry bear is looking at you as food, there is nothing you can do that he cant do better. A gun is the equalizer in that aspect.

But again I pointed out enough for him to hopefully understand a bit more of why.

Abepark I see you edited you post about my .44 while hiking. LOL says the guy from mass. I bet you have never even been in the back country, I bet you saw a Grizz at 300 yards on a hiking trail full of 100's of people. I am all alone or in a small group of 2-4 where phones dont work, in the middle of millions and millions of acres of wilderness. Where you can only rely on your self an the gear you take with you, would you bet you r life on a big can of pepper spray???? I sure as hell dont, I have herd stories about grizz attacks in Alaska where all 6 rounds from a .44 were pancaked against the breast bone, the only reason the guy is alive is because another member of the hunting party got it with a .338mag in the face before it got to the guy.

Come with me into the back country then may be you would understand why I hike armed.

I HAVE SEEN GRIZZLY'S off my deck, I have seen a mountain lion the size of a bull mastiff, walking into our back woods off the road near my house, I hear wolves howling in the night 3 nights a week, I love it like that. But that dose not mean I will trust my life to mother nature.

edit: Vdub, Open carry is legal in MT as well its not uncommon when you do see people in the back country to be very well armed. I have a savage model 99 as a scabbard gun on my horse when we take them into the back country
