Can't wait. Hopefully they won't pull an Instinct and force a Simply Everything plan and I can still use my SERO plan.

I got a 3g iphone a while back I jailbroke, pretty awesome phone.

The only real downer is the contract, it can get pretty spendy a month.

Dude, we're not talking about buy 1 get 6 free LG/Motorola flip phones... Get off that wagon.
Its not like im spouting my opinion on Verizon. They offer the best service hands down. No matter where you go in the country. Some firm called J.D Power and Associates (you may have heard of them) just gave them number 1 across the board in terms of customer satisfaction/support and service coverage and quality in ALL sections of the United States. They came in second only to Alltel in the southeast (my side of the country). Verizon now owns Alltel...

It's alright. The keyboard can extend if you flip the phone on the horizontal, making it much easier to type.

If you are unsure if you right the right key, you can also hold your thumb and drag, until it highlights the right letter. It wont add the letter until you let go of the keyboard.

It can be easily operated with one hand for basic phone functions. For typing, you obviously benefit from using both hands.

Not to mention the Blackberry Storm in all of its buggy wonder can out perform the iPhone in every way almost with less hardware. BOOM.

So basically, if you hate Picture messaging, hate using Copy/Paste, love lagging email, hate typing in landscape, love freezing issues, hate battery life, and love GPS running at all times because the phone would suck without all the cool trivial features, you should definitely buy the iPhone.

OK you smart phone users... QUESTION???

I am thinking of getting a smart phone, but I need to be able (if needed) to view legal documents. Some of which requires me to use a tiff viewer on my pc to view. Is there a phone out there that will have the capability of downloading this? The phone will of course need internet capability and WIFI would be a bonus. I am on verizon now, but to have a secondary phone with this capability would not limit me to verizons service/software shit, so I can look at any and all phones/services that would benefit me.

              Suggestions???

                You can forget the iPhone.
The only device that comes to mind would be a .65 or higher Blackberry smartphone or something along the lines of Windows Mobile device. To pick between the two, I'd rather have the Blackberry of course. And thats not because I'm bias..
The document viewer on the BB is good for xls, ppt, doc etc.. And come to think of it, not sure about reading tiff's. Im sure it does though. Image viewer would probably take care of it. But as far as security, I'd trust the BB before I would any other device. Theres a reason why its pretty much a corporate standard, except for James Crivellones shop...

Once you get past the fact that it is an apple product, its works pretty damn well.

I'm sorry but I enjoy flexibility when it comes to devices, and I'm not going to argue about BB vs Iphone either.

Verizon has 1 great business model, ripping off the consumer with a nickle and dime business model, trust me I've dealt with them as well. Network coverage is not everything, especially when my AT&T SIM can provide me with service to nearly as many places as Verizon.

And in the end, I prefer going from Exchange to Device VIA SSL and trusted IP sources, vs Exchange - BES - RIM - Device.

Blackberry is like Novell, a company that can only compete with existing customers.

THAT being said, a jailbroken iphone can do just about everything, I have my RDP terminal, SSH, FTP, the ability to manipulate and save documents, etc... out of the box its limited, but once you toss a jailbrake on the damn thing its the most capable phone out there.

My office is exclusively Windows Mobile and Iphone, in fact my idiot contact at RIM didn't have one leg to stand on after I was done with him.

i think he's referring to the fact that apple is an American company, so buying one puts money in American pockets. Too bad their made in china. All ipods used to be American made I think that ended 3 gens ago.

my Iphone has no email lag (i just emailed myself a document... it hit my phone faster than it hit my computer)

And it's never frozen. But i guess i can kinda agree with everything else you said.

iphones are great consumer items. our IT dept has bounced through literally 5 or 6 different platforms in the last 3 years, good device, BES, Exchange, then activesync support woot. i always asked why we ditched BES considering some of the sensitive data that is dealt with on our system, the answer i got was basically cost. it's much cheaper to ditch BES and go with exchange w/ activesync. It was until a month ago when the GM's iphone got hacked that IT decided to invest in a new BES server. It may not be as cool as some of the other things but RIM's enterprise solutions are really untouchable from a security standpoint.

That was quite a loquacious stream of conciousness minddump right there, e30sd. Thank you. Your memory registers have been cleared, you are now free to go about your pointless existence once again.
