Usually when I remote in on the Remote Desktop tool, you can go into the options and check the option that lets you take with you your drives that you can access from your desktop.
i.e. if you can access X:\ drive from your desktop, but not from the server you are remoting into, this gives you the option to kind of virtually "take the drive with you" into the server from your desktop.- Sco

My first suggestion would be to label the servers. I had a boss that didn't like to label anything and wouldn't let me label anything, cause it was a "waste of time". I would remind him that it's not after spending 20 minutes to find out what cable led to what computer...
