THANK YOU.It's a nice idea, but why should I be blindly proud of something I had no choice or control over? I was lucky to be born here, but simply because it happened by chance, I should be required to be proud of it? Should I be proud that I was born at Legacy Emmanuel Hospital too? I like America. iI'm happy to be living here. But no one should be required to have certain feelings just because you deem them to be 'good'.
I have been saying this for YEARS, and have been blasted in the past here for arguing this point. I'm ecstatic, thankful, happy, and grateful to be an American. But not proud. I love my country. But I'm of the belief that you can't take pride in something you didn't do anything to get. By some kind of cosmic roll of the dice, my existence was made a reality in the United States, and I have always been eternally thankful for that. But I didn't choose to live here. I didn't make this country, or any part of it. I didn't take part in it's creation. Therefore, I have NOTHING to be proud of. I built my car, my bike, my family, and my life. Those things I am proud of. But not of the blind chance that is me being born in this country.Comment

OBAMA RE-SWORN IN
At 735 pm, Roberts administred the oath of office again to obama in the map room. Robert gibbs said the wh counsel, greg craig, believes the oath was fine Tuesday, but one word was out of sequence so they did this out of a "an abundance of caution." "We decided it was so much fun..." Obama joked while sitting on a couch. Obama stood and walked over to make small talk with pool as roberts donned his black robe. "Are you ready to take the oath?" Roberts asked. "I am, and we're going to do it very slowly," obama replied. Oath took 25 seconds. After a flawless recitation, roberts smiled and said, "congratulations, again." Obama said, "thank you, sir." Smattering of applause. "All right." Obama said. "The bad news for the pool is there's 12 more balls."

This isn't just a step forward for blacks, it's a step forward for everybody. So for every step forward, there have to be two steps, a black one and a white one? With that attitude there will be no equality, not for anyone.
It doesn't matter that Obama is a different color, but you couldn't tell that from the event.
The day that the inauguration of the first black president simply the inauguration of the 44th president is the day the world is a better place.Comment

Blunt you are right. Any "steps forward" the hiring of a mixed race individual made were brought back to reality by the rest of America. George W. Bush deserves respect as an American just as you or I.you should be proud every fucking day dumbass. ill tell you what im not proud of, the american people at the ceremony today taunting bush on his way out. it fucking disgusts me. our society has no class whatsoever. no president has ever been subjected to that shit. not even carter and carter was a far worse president. the decay of society is blatantly obvious
I am not sure where I stand on calling Obama an African American. I am a white male, and I have come to believe racism is necessary to help enable equality. That is not a question, the question is whether or not all men are equal. Every man or woman is self determined, it just so happens America stands for so many different things that anyone can achieve thier own embodiment American Dream; unless it is to rule the e30 world with an iron fist of ignorance that job is taken by a few demogogs.
The real steps forward I see, race aside, is the taking of the White House and its cabinet, by intellectuals. People may argue what the framers of this country had in mind over 200 years ago, but the fact is those framers were the intellectual and economic elite. The smartest of Americans lead the country to unity back then; we have recently seen less intelligent men destroy the interguity and inginuity that really made America powerful and great. Obama and his administration are going to inact change for the betterment of the nation.
I know I just spent ten minutes typing this, but time is better spent in action toward good instead of typing rude, testosterone smeared messages to your fellow e30 worshopers.
Just my

I think it's great we now have a black president.
I think it's ridiculous a black President got in that has no production record. And that he got in because he was black.
HEY look we have a BLACK President...see we aren't racist.

It's ignorant to think that he got in just because he was black. I sure as hell didn't vote for him because he was black.Comment

You can't say "hot air and wanna be dreams" when he's only been in office for less than 2 days. I can agree he has made some pretty big promises but why not be optimistic and wait and see before you judge?Comment

No, because it's similar to putting a 12 year old behind the wheel and hoping he knows how to drive.
Not much will change. Other than the normal Dem BS.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.
