It makes me giggle when people start buying gold. That's the ultimate perma-bear "safe play". Stocks out perform any other asset class over the long term. Investors who don't have the stomach for this shit are the ones who lose in the long term.

Your entire rant was about money in failing banks...Oh wait. A little thing called FDIC
Rant about money in the stock market... no reason to pull money out when its low, should invest long term, and if you are nearing retirement you money out to be in low-risk, steady growth.
Getting your money back pennies on the dollar... Did you ever listen to what you say? Do you really believe this?

It's your choice what to do with your money, but you sound like an absolute nutjob.

Hahahaha. Well, there's plenty of high quality manufacturing here still because it requires high skill. We cannot compete with paying min wage to unskilled workers, but China cannot produce a lot of things reliability that we can. So you are playing a violin to people who don't seek to educate and improve themselves and are pissed companies can't pay them $7 an hour to run a sewing machine here while paying high corporate tax.

Where did I say I was pulling money I have in out???? Most of my investments are doing just as good as they were 2 years ago. I will let it go and keep putting some into it. Just doing something different to cover all bases whats wrong with that?? How is that foolish?????? Its a long term investment that I will have for a long time.

Pennies on the dollar yeah when and if the the bottom comes out of it and my pensions go worthless and have to be picked up by the govt we get pennies on the dollar of their value. 2 if we have lots of large banks fail and we just print billions to replace it whats that going do to the over all value of the dollar???????

DO you guys really belive that the economy will be looking better in 6 months???? Come on we have had massive layoffs in the last 3 months, when these people run out of Unemployment and Credit on their cards and then they start to default it will be just like the mortgage debacle but much worse an drug us further into the mud. Our new Head monkey is talking 5 trillion in bailout funds, Where the fuck is that going to come from?????
What happens when the GOVT. cant make the interest payment on all this debt that we are putting up on the backs of our children??????

Look You do what you want I will do what I want and hopefully we will all come out smelling like roses in the end

Manufacturing is a shrinking sector. The United States is moving toward a service based economy versus production of goods. Manufacturing only accounts for less than 20% of our GDP.

So, if this global economic collapse occurs that you're aiming for, what exactly do you plan to do with your expensive hunks of metal?

Yes. Because every single service is outsourced now and there are no service jobs anymore. You know what else is wrong with the world - machines. We should get rid of them because they get rid of cobblers' jobs!!

It's called competition. Are you suggesting everyone should be paid more than the value they add? Just because? People should be sure that they are worth their salary rather than just assume that nothing will ever change and then complain when it does.

And remember, most of the income that is made over there becomes demand, which we make income here from.

expensive hunks of metal will continue to be expensive an gain further value. It was not that long ago that money was really made of expensive metal and said money had a real value not just worthless paper.

Okay, don't believe me... we are doing business in both places. But hey, you have an amazing understanding of the world and whatever you think must be right. We should just make everything ourselves here in the USA and close up the borders, close down the ports, and not borrow money from anyone anymore!!

Well that basic idea worked fairly well for about 200 years or so. What we got going on now is not going to work long term anyway.

Yes, because the history of this country would be the same without trade or global capitalism.

The growth of the states were highly linked to trade. And it wasn't manufactured goods that we were producing to send back to Europe!

And before that... what was the sole reason America isn't just a bunch of Native Americans hunting buffalo on the wild plains? Oh yeah. Global trade with China and India...
