He also promised to ban lobbyists, but then made "exceptions"

He also promised not to take money from lobbyists during his campaign, but took money from lobbyists' family members, which is basically the same thing.

What's of the most concern is how easily he, along with the media were able to manipulate public opinion and turn otherwise reasonable people into cult-like members.

I guess it depends on what you're definition of actual and factual are then.

They are both blatantly biased and they both put their own spin on the "news".

But back to what the OP said:

Yeah it's disgusting that, as we speak, it is passing in this form in the house. But a link from cspan is a little more convincing than a website run by 2 guys.

I guess I should have compared drudge to perez hilton.

I'll ask again since you ignored my question the first time:
How is Drudge biased when he has numerous links to left-leaning news outlets all over his web page, along with numerous links to left-leaning columnists?

BTW, UCLA recently did the largest media bias study ever done and found Drudge to be as close to center as it gets:

"Five news outlets — "NewsHour With Jim Lehrer," ABC's "Good Morning America," CNN's "NewsNight With Aaron Brown," Fox News' "Special Report With Brit Hume" and the Drudge Report — were in a statistical dead heat in the race for the most centrist news outlet. Of the print media, USA Today was the most centrist."

        Source: http://newsroom.ucla.edu/portal/ucla...UCLA-6664.aspx

I didn't see anything about "The Daily Show" in that study, but it did state that 18 of the top 20 media outlets are left of center:

"Of the 20 major media outlets studied, 18 scored left of center, with CBS' "Evening News," The New York Times and the Los Angeles Times ranking second, third and fourth most liberal behind the news pages of The Wall Street Journal."

And since I know what is coming up next from some, there is also this:

"The researchers took numerous steps to safeguard against bias — or the appearance of same — in the work, which took close to three years to complete. They went to great lengths to ensure that as many research assistants supported Democratic candidate Al Gore in the 2000 election as supported President George Bush. They also sought no outside funding, a rarity in scholarly research.

"No matter the results, we feared our findings would've been suspect if we'd received support from any group that could be perceived as right- or left-leaning, so we consciously decided to fund this project only with our own salaries and research funds that our own universities provided," Groseclose said."

          From your source:

"One thing people should keep in mind is that our data for the Drudge Report was based almost entirely on the articles that the Drudge Report lists on other Web sites," said Groseclose. "Very little was based on the stories that Matt Drudge himself wrote. The fact that the Drudge Report appears left of center is merely a reflection of the overall bias of the media."

While the sampling of the news his site links may or not be biased. Matthew Drudge has an agenda... He was put on the map by breaking the Lewinski Scandal, which I do applaud him for, but since then it has been mired by false accusations and yellow journalism.

          examples:

          -Bill Clinton's alleged illegitimate child
          -John Kerry alleged intern scandal
          -Obama Somali photo
-He put the term "swiftboating" on the map due to his hard pressing of that John Kerry controversy
-Oh and most recently that the Obama inauguration could bankrupt DC

Also, him being a self proclaimed conservative and being one of only two employees at the drudge report, would lead me to believe that he has a journalistic bias. Which is all fine and good, we have a (big) place in our media for people like that.

I'm just saying he is a pundit, a la hannity or limbaugh, rather than a true journalist.

I posted factual evidence complete with a link to a non-biased, non agenda-driven source.

You posted anecdotal evidence while purposely leaving out exculpatory evidence.

And by "true journalist" do you mean people like Dan Rather?

              ZING!

Except your factual evidence was admittedly ambiguous from your non-biased, non-agenda-driven source.

No, I didn't post any evidence. I just pointed out that your claim was disputable, and then interjected my own observations of his own writings.

A true journalist in my mind is someone like Jim Lehrer, which is about the only bit of "news" I watch on TV. For pundits I usually turn to CNBC, mainly Jim Cramer or Maria Bartiromo for the closing bell. Occasionally throughout the day I check google's headlines on my blackberry, except mostly for NFL scores and news the past 5 months.

I posted factual evidence that Drudge is Center of the road and you cherry-picked some examples and then claimed you disputed my non-biased, non agenda-driven, reputable source with anecdotal, selective "observations".

$335,000,000 is roughly the cost of two F22 Raptor fighters. Maybe two and a half.

What's wrong with proper education about the dangers of STDs? I mean you may think it's too high a price because aside from the dementia that syphilis has wrought upon you and your central nervous system, you're living with it just fine.

You are exactly right...breaks down to 6.7million per state (not a hell of a lot) and that money does create jobs for many healthcare and counselors, etc. (who've been getting fired lately)
And also, keeps people out of the hospital, IF they listen, and at work so they can then turn around and spend their money which is what the stimulus is attempting. This may be a weird way to get the end result but it's very important that we don't over infest ourselves with things like AIDS over the next 10 years or else we put this money right back in to treating these same people with gov't finds. (crazy cycle)
Just my 2 cents, and it is clearly not the answer to the problem but I hope most of you can see why it is partially neccessary!
