I could give two shits if someone has to pay $0.60 more per pack of smokes.

My health insurance went up from $85/month to $155/month as of March 1.

I'm 24, in good shape, with phenomenal cholesterol levels. I haven't been to the doctor in 5 years, except a few months ago to get my cholesterol tested because I was curious about the numbers.

Yet they want to double my health insurance?

We should tax all sub 25 males since they cause a huge number of traffic accidents because they are too aggressive and drive too fast. I would be all for that because they cause my car insurance to be a lot more expensive...

You pay more for health insurance because of all the people who don't pay for health insurance and because it is no longer catastrophic coverage. It covers every little thing and you only have to pay small amounts for every visit. If you could get catastrophic coverage, then it would be a lot cheaper.

And since we are on this subject, lets do genetic testing on everybody and those with the markers for a higher risk of cancer or other disease should be taxed because obviously they drive up the cost of health care too. And, we can add in those people who don't get enough sleep because obviously they cause more accidents and therefore should be taxed more.

The point isn't if you agree with people using tobacco, or any other legal substance, the point is that it is a targeted minority tax that the government uses to steal more money while everybody just smiles and nods because the government didn't come after them this time. And, this tax won't do a damn thing to lower your health insurance bill, ever.
