So wait.... you think it's a realistic idea to DRIVE downt to mexico and bring perscriptions back to help him get through his internship that requires him to be on his feet all day?
    Who's being unrealistic again?????
You do realise that if his bones get infected while he is on these pain killers he won't know right? Then by the time he can get the operation, they will have already cut his foot off. This isn't a joke man, get your friend's foot fixed immediatly. it isn't a car you can leave sitting while you borrow you parent's car. It's a living part of his body that must be addressed immediatly. Get your head out of your ass and start thinking with it. the only answer is to get it fixed. That's it.

I have a friend of mine in my class who had extensive surgery done a year ago to repair a broken foot. He first had screws installed but then the screws broke and they installed tight ropes on his bones to keep the foot fused together. Now with him being in a 2 year internship with little insurance and hardly any income that mostly goes to school he is experiencing extreme pain all the time. He went back to his foot doctor but the doctor told him he needed to quit school and automatically have another surgery that will keep him off his feet for over 6 months. My idea was for him get a prescription from his doctor for some pain meds and take a quick trip down to Mexico through Yuma and get the meds from them and bring them back, my only concern is if the American side allows him to bring the meds back over. Other than that I have no other ideas to help him out and the only thing that helps him through the day is some kind of pain killer. He is not a junkie looking for a fix he is just simply trying to buy himself some time till he can have the surgery after he graduates from our program. If he can’t get a pain meds from Mexico what would be his best next choice for him to manage the pain.
Read what i highlighted. Now go get his foot fixed.

Maybe it's just typical for your obvious lack of common sense to recieve criticism.

Please, I just re-read the OP. Stop giving people medical advise from your "idea's". You are a huge fail of a human being for such a stupid Darwin's Law approach to medical healing.

Are you kidding? I'm fairly certain that was a satirical post.
