Sorry to hear about that! I have 20/15 vision in both eyes, but both my mom and grandmother (dad's side) are legally blind without glasses or contacts. My mom has a rare auto-immune allergic condition with her eyes and my grandmother has serious retina issues. Hope I haven't inherited any of those genes, but for now I do what I can to protect my eyes and wear sunglasses anytime I'm outside and the sun is out. Haven't been to the eye doctor in years but I ought to go.

Hope everything turns out well for you.

Woah! You guys are freaking me out. I'm paranoid that I'll lose my sharp vision one day. I've never met anybody that can see as far as I can and small details at close range. I've taken it for granted because I'm 26, but my dad recently had to get reading glasses at 52 and he has always had great vision. I'm a machinist and my vision is extremely valuable to me. I've never been to an eye doctor before, but are there any precautions I can take to protect against this stuff like eating or not eating certain foods.

I cannot BELIEVE the amount of detail I was missing before these. It's going to be about a week, before I'm fully adjusted to wearing these, and my brain trains itself to see with them, but holy shit.

I'm very much looking forward to that. That's pretty much exactly what the doc told me today.

I just got glasses last week. I had a pair for about a week in 5th grade, but was embarrassed, so I did not wear them. I got contacts, but had issues due to my astigmatism, felt them to uncomfortable to wear. That was 14 years ago. I decided it was time to go as I was tired of squinting and went for it.

Sorry to hear. I've been meaning to get my eyes checked out too. My 20/20 vision from my youth seems to have gone bye bye.

Yeah. I started to notice a year or so ago that I was having a lot of trouble reading things far away. I used to be able to read the tiniest thing from the farthest distance. Then things like my computer screen started to get blurry, and watching TV and things started to get harder. I've also been getting headaches fairly frequently for a while now. I wish I'd done this sooner, but I think everything should be fine. I'm really looking forward to getting my specs tomorrow and having my vision back to normal.

Kind of you in general to have your vision going... I'll be 45 by the end of March

I was the go to guy if you needed a tiny part number read or a dropped small screw found. Then I woke up one morning and couldn't read the fucking street signs until I'd almost passed them...

The odds are in you favor for a positive out come... Focus on that.

Good thing you got it checked out. Hope everything works out. I go to the eye doctor regularly, even now when I don't have insurance. I can do Ok if I am deaf or missing a leg or something but I dont know what I would do if I couldn't see.
