^No, it's kind of the antithesis to People's. Zinn's book takes a populist, left-leaning view of American history and this new book was written to be a kind of counter argument from a more capitalist, right-leaning perspective. I am very tempted to pick it up but I don't have a lot of free time to devote to any reading, let alone 830 pages :(

No Darrin is right its counter to that commie bastard its very good book but the info comes at you so fast that its hard to soak it all in and make any progress. I had to take a break for a bit as it was getting kinda discouraging

its by 2 guys Larry Schweikart and Michael Allen.

really it is a good book, I will go back to here in the next few days just needed a break.

Darrin Pick up so when you do get to it you have laying around, thats normally what I do

I may actually get zinn's peoples history here some time soon just for shits a giggles. I have not read it, so it might nice to indulge the other argument for a bit

Gotcha. After reading a Peoples History, I couldnt help but think how fucked up the US is to Indians, immigrants, and even its own citizens, so I should definitely pick up Patriots History so I can lose that train of thought.

I'm looking very, very forward to Anthony Bourdain's new book, "Medium Raw". It's a sequalt to Kitchen Confidential, which I loved.

Im actually reading "Kitchen Confidential" right now. Greatness. I love the guy. I never thought I would be so interested in such a show about, ostensibly, food/cooking.

Now I'm on to Make. It's more of a magazine, but it comes out 4 times a year and cost as much as a book.

I picked this one up about 10 years ago and dove right in....finished it within a week. While doing some spring cleaning/organizing last month I stubbled upon it and decided I would re-read it (just started on it yesterday).

It chronicles real events of the escalation of nuclear submarine development right up to the Cold War. These things were built to start WWIII at the flip of switch without ever being spotted. Some amazing accounts of what took place as we played spying cat-n-mouse with the Russians (think scenes from Hunt for Red October - great flick).

                        Rides...
