    Amsterdam crash

    Happened this morning.

A Turkish Airlines 737-800 built in 2006!!! airliner went down just short of the runway on final. Preliminary reports (eyewitness) vary from a STALL scenario where the plane quite literally appeared to have fell 'vertically' at a very slow forward rate (as there is no apparent trail in the field), to the rumors of the plane being out of fuel.

This is very lucky scenario there is a highway and suburb or industrial area within very close proximity
Current reported death toll : 9
Injuries - serious injuries : circa 50 - of which some 20+ serious
Number of persons on board: 126 pax , 7 crew.
May their souls rest in peace.

    Video from adjacent highway:

That's tragic, but Joe does bring up a semi-valid point about the sudden number of airplane crashes or near-misses. Whether it is to be blamed on the weather, the aircraft, the pilots skill level, or whatever the reason may be, it's certainly putting a sour taste in many people's mouths about air transit.

Most airplane crashes are because of pilot error, the one in New York was and this one looks like it as well. Shitty.

be more specific. the one in upstate new york with a turbo prop was pilot error. the other in the Hudson was a display of GREAT pilot training
