I had that same argument with co workers saying he should have shot him elsewhere. The guy was in a jeep, leaving little exposed, plus no real telling if he would have stopped if hit in the leg.

    BTW

    That's class

as far as carrying to protect yourself from people knowing your a cop, maybe if cops didn't abuse their power so frequently then people would actually LIKE them and they'd never have anything to fear.

for your buddy who carries at the gym, let him suck your dick already so he can get over his whole issue of trying to impress his buddies by carrying a gun to places where they will never ever have to be used - he's a retard and bringing it is only increasing the chance that it's gonna get stolen and used with evil intent

the driver, he should been pulled out and beaten to a pulp with the off duty cop's BARE HANDS. fucking waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles resorted to using a gun. the drunk shoulda never been allowed to get in his damn car. bar should be liable, i'm sure a smart enough attorney could find a solid tort to go to court with in this situation.

guy should not be dead, just have both his legs broken. cop should have both his index fingers chopped and seared without painkillers as a punishment for the murder, as well as turning over his badge and being restricted from owning a gun for atleast 20 years. bouncer should be sued by family of dead guy for hundreds of thousands for not taking precautions by detaining the drunk instead of letting him loose on the outside world, afterall the bar is responsible for allowing the drunk to get so hammered in the first place, they were comparatively neglegent. In CO, a bartender that doesn't cut someone off before they become a problem is partially liable for the drinker's actions.

inocent bystander that got shot shouold sue the bar in a criminal tort case. bar policy should be to resolve all instigated issues INSIDE, not just throwing people out and making the problem that they fostered the outside world's issue.
    LOL!

I'm surprised you didn't say "The cop should have just shot him in the leg."

    Stupidest post ever.

    What's the problem?

The only person at fault is the one who got drunk, acted stupid, got thrown out of the bar, threw a tantrum, tried to run over the bouncer and ended up getting shot.

Do the words "Personal responsibility" have any meaning these days?
    +1
It's a shame that he had to end up dead, but he was acting like a total moron. Actions do have consequences...

Actually I retract that statement. The news article has been updated and they are saying the reason why he was kicked out of the bar was because he slapped the dj. Apparently she wouldnt play a song for him.

Yes but in a way that put many others in danger. I'm not saying the cop shouldn't have fired, but there are other ways to do so. I honestly feel that the bar is at serious fault for the way it went down.

Turns out it wasn't a kid, like everyone thought, it was a 41 year old man who runs a family owned furniture chain in our area.

Some other cop beat the hell out of a teenage girl and that made the news. LA puts their friggin' high speed chases on satellite feeds so the whole world can watch. Where is this news story? if there is any truth to this tall tale of excessive force, you're either the cop looking for absolution, the bouncer listening to your steroids, or the dead drunk posting from your grave.

Why did it take 3+ pages of nonsensical cop-bashing before anyone else called this troll bait?

Post #35, link to news story. Soo no I'm not the cop, bouncer, or dead

It’s not the movies and unfortunately criminals have more rights than they should. There is a lot of grey area, responsibility and liability regarding use of force in Law Enforcement. Although it may be justifiable, there is a lot of scenarios where the cop may be in the wrong. If the car was not running and already crashed he could be held accountable.

Its like if a vehicle is moving towards you as a weapon and you pop off a couple its self defense but if you were able to get out of the way and decide to pop off a couple as he drives by or away that’s Man 1 at least in a lot of states besides Texas, unless someone else was in danger. In most states here in the U.S. LE officers are not supposed to carry in bars or clubs. It may have changed I’m not 100%.

You have to be very careful doing civilian security, law enforcement you may be trying to save someone but end up doing time for not thinking out every other option or scenario there is. It can be a little unfair when you only have a split second of response time to make that decision. Law enforcement isn't for everyone though and neither is the military.

You have to be comfortable having that huge responsibility/liability and be able to make those decisions. Its not all dirty harry movies, they train not to kill if they can. That’s a lot harder than it sounds given certain situations that they are in any day of the week.

In this case it seems maybe the shots were fired unnecessary after the fact. It kind of seems like there were too many other anomalies, something doesn’t seem right. He may have been in the wrong place at the wrong time and had to take action based on his best judgment. But was his judgment impaired? I wasn’t there and sure don’t want to pass any judgment. Those of us who have been in the military or law enforcement know that everything we do is under a microscope. It’s easy to judge and make comments when you are sitting safe at home and have never been in combat situations. Just my 2 cents.
