I may be the only one in this thread that feels this way, but it sounds like she is reaching a critical point in her life and was probably waiting for you to "grow" more. This is completely speculative, so don't take it to heart.

I personally don't bother dating girls in the lower 20s, because they tend to be too immature for my liking. She may have been contemplating this for some time now. Waiting for you to blossom into a man, at least her definition of a man. Now, I'm not sure what you consider to be decent money, especially earning a living off of Cragislist/eBay sales, for some other guy, but that isn't something steady, and not something that promotes growth.

It's okay for your family to be able to support you, along with grants and shit to help pay for college. Sooner or later you'll graduate, and you'll probably go out into the real world and get a real job and make a decent living. Maybe then you'll be the guy she was hoping you were now. But the fact is you aren't up to her standards right now. And it just sucks even more that some other joker was probably trying to hit on her, and telling her all the reasons why he is better for her than you.

But life is a game, a competitive one at that. If you don't have that hunger to succeed, you lose that drive, you tend to get too comfortable. And that makes you more vulnerable, to losing your woman. Just like in the car world, you may have a super legit sick whip, but someone out there has one that's better than yours. Some women may see this as a sign of weakness.

Really though, the guy had dreams of playing pro Aussie B-ball, and he is maintaining a job at Costco, while going to school. That shouldn't be that hard to beat.
