Shitty deal you haven't caught them yet. I would hate to see anything happen to my dog. She's pretty small (16lbs) but she got into a fight with a raccoon like I mentioned before. I don't know what breed she is because we got her from a rescue shelter. I'm thinking Carin Terrier, she can move, out runs other dogs at the park like it's nothing and she's agyle.

Hes not too big. Hes pretty short, but hes just heavy. He's actually pretty clean also, and totally house broken. He gouged me with his tusk like 5 weeks ago, so he doesnt come inside any more. My GF was fooled by him.

Sorry to see you lost a dog to some mongrel coyote, Blunt. My girlfriend has a Maltese/Shihtzu that looks just like that and I couldn't imagine the King Hell that'd go down if her dog was killed.

A ridgeback will solve your dog vs coyote worries. I've seen a Ridgey take down a dingo (Australia's coyote*) before. Dingos seem to pacify once their throats are moved to a remote location - like a big dog's jaws.

Dude, my sincere condolances, I just lost one to reproductive system cancer about six weeks ago, I couldn't imagine loosing this one too.

My condolences to both Blunt and you FK on the loss of your pups...

I lost one of my Bernese Mountain Dogs on Feb 26 '09, after a two year battle with lymphoma cancer. She actually was lymphoma free when she passed away but became very ill just days befor passing. Preliminary results are pointing towards that she passed of MH (malignant histiocytosis), a rare rapid and violent form of cancer that is hereditary in Bernese Mountain Dogs. We threw everything UT @ Knoxville vet teaching hospital (like the mayo clinic for pets) could offer her for the best quality of life and had we not done so, she would have passed just weeks/months after the original diagnosis back in Fed. '07 and even then she was only given 6-12 months (maybe 18) with all they could do for her. The longer after the 6 month chemo program she could go lymphoma free the better her immune system would be responsive to a new chemo program. Because of her success with chemo treatments and the way we approached it, UTK now has a really good case study that books and all other future cases will be styled after for others to use when fighting for their pets...

Here she is at age 5 before Cancer diagnosis...






Hang in there Blunt and you will get some of those coyotes in due time. Might not be the one that did that to your moms dog, but at least you will get some satisfaction...

the worst part of all this is that was my mothers puppy. he was only 10 months old. i got her the dog when we lost my dad because she was so lonely. i was watching him while she was on vacation. ive never felt so horrible as the day she came back and i had to tell her. my dog got away. they were in the back yard and i dont even think my dog saw it happen because he acted like nothing happened

Man I have a rednose pitbull that fucking runs from everything, even these rotten hellgramites we get here. There was one by the back door last summer so I caught it....tied the dog out expecting a death match. Placed said bug within his reach....dog walked over....bug opens giant pinchers....waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles dog takes off and damn near hangs himself on the chain. I give him pep talks...tell him hes supposed to be this vicious beast......I mean the cat kicks him out of his bed everyday. Hes in the other room right now whining because the cats laying on his bed but he wont do anything to make her move even tho hes 4x her size and could crush her with one snap of the jaws. I guess I shouldn't complain. My 4 year old daughter dresses him up like a fairy all the time......what am I to expect.

and sadly they will do it with your pet in it's mouth. if you have them in you area, make sure that you keep your trash shut, outdoor pets food stored where they can't get to it, etc. don't give them a reason to come around your house to see your small pet and snatch it
