I guess I'm just not used to an event that intense being so close to the United States. Speeding through neighborhoods and occasionally missing a turn and driving into someone's home would have had that event shitcanned from the start if it were to to take place in the US.

Yes, I remember watching some US coverage of Quit Targa West when that accident occured (I believe I still have it TiVo'd,) he was a true gearhead from everything I heard about him. The car he was killed in was a stunning car, at least the guy died doing something he loved.
