I was just thinking the same thing. I'm a big fan of the service I have had over the past 4 years with verizon, but the app store and the apps available on the iphone are just too AWESOME.

Its funny though, I was just giving my friend shit for getting an iPhone.

If anyone was an iPhone hater, it was me. I didn't really hate them, I just always bashed on my iPhone wielding friends (all one of them). But the lack of 3G bugged me, and the Bold is just way too damn expensive.

Just downloaded the Dynolicious app... can't wait to try it out when I get home with the e30. It looks like a pretty close to accurate app, and even beat a GTechPro by quite a bit in a comparison test.

i thought the 1st gen iphone was waaaay too expensive, and lacked some key features. it was much more of a style statement than really great phone.

once the price dropped for the 2nd gen iphone, and they added gps and 3g, i had to get one. and in a couple months we will get MMS, copy/paste, and turn by turn GPS for freeeeeee. i wonder if the 3rd gen iphone will have enough new stuff to make me buy one, rather than just use the new software on my 2nd gen.

found something kinda cool--just got my iphone over the weekend along with a new laptop. Well I want to upload my ipod to the iphone but can`t find a way. >google<, and I find this hack

in short --I am about to download a hexdeicmle editor and follow a step by step hack.

anyone one wanna look at this and make sure it looks good?

"iPod Download" fix
Once we realized that Apple killed our favorite app iPod Download, we started to poke around with a HexEdit tool to see what they changed. HexEdit can be downloaded here for free at SourceForge.

Now HexEditing a file can really mess things up, so only do this if you're comfortable with these types of tools.

As we were looking through the latest iTunes, the French site HardMac uncovered exactly what we were looking for. It's simple, Apple looks for the name "iPod Download" all you need to do is change it to something with the same number of characters.

So here's how:

The following assumes you had "iPod Download" already installed and then iTunes killed it.

Download and install HexEdit from SourceForge.

It might be a good idea to make a copy of iTunes and putting in another folder, just in case (File > Duplicate).

Run HexEdit and browse to iTunes (File > Open).

Keep browsing to Contents > MacOS > iTunes. Which is an Executable. Click Open.

Once open, you'll see a ton of numbers and random characters. Choose Find > Find and Replace. Type iPod Download. Click Find Next.

Here's what it will find.

Now, change the name from iPod Download to something else, just make sure to keep the same number of characters. For example, we typed in "iown thisipod" without the quotes. bite mesteveb also works.

Exit the application, HexEdit > Quit HexEdit, you'll then be prompted to save, click Save.

Now Open up iTunes and iPod download is back!

From here, we're back to where we were and will enjoy getting our files off our iPod, until the next Apple update or cease and desist letter comes your way.

Does anyone on here know anything about unlocking a 3g? Unfortunatly I updated before I had intentions of unlocking, so I have modem Firmware 02.30.03 which yellowsn0w is incapatable with. I'm running Winpwn but I'm having a hard time getting it to recognize the update file I downloaded thru Iclarified. Can anyone give me a helping hand?

Any opinions on the new iPhone 3G S? I've been on the fence with the iPhone as I've always been a Nokia NSeries customer...with some of the improvements in the new iPhone, I'm wondering if the existing shortfalls or issues are all addressed when comparing the iPhone to the other smart phones out there...

I just updated my 3g to 3.0 software. I hope that holds me over for a while. Otherwise I'll be picking up a 3gs. A 16gb for $200 is a nice price.

I hope you didnt fuck yourself too bad. All you need to do is enable disc use on your ipod and drag the files onto your computer. They show up as random letters and numbers but you go into itunes and add those folders individually they show up just fine.

On the subject of the 3G s, I just bought a 3g last month on the 28th. I Called at&t and asked if I could upgrade--I got a yes seeing how I am under 30 days in my contract. I pick up my new 16gig 3G s on june 19th. iPhone is awsome!
