OT - Movie - The Knowing

That's the first time for a long time that I spend my hard earn $ at a movie theater. I went to see "The Knowing" with Nicholas Cage. And honestly, I was very positively surprised. The ending could have been a bit "tighter" but overall, it gave me the goosebumps, and a lot of them.

Good plot. Okay CGI. And "the end of the world" like I have rarely seen. That's the kind of scenario that Shyamalan Singh (Sixth sense) could have written if he had a bit more talent.

Next review will be of Terminator... Can't wait.

I was hoping Nic Cage could come back after a few flops. (Wicker Man, Ghost Rider, etc)

Nic Cage is not the movie's best asset. In fact, I can't stand him anymore. He used to be a great actor, but something doesn't work anymore with him. Is that his false teeth, false hair, or pretty narrow acting range? I don't know. Maybe the flick could have been even better with another comedian. But overall, I'd give the movie an 8.5/10 (considering it is an action movie, obviously not an art flick).

Ok, I stand corrected. The only recent thing he did that worked for me was World Trade Center.

I think "OK" CGI isn't a strong enough word. Overall, pretty good movie. If you like doomsday and/or religious movies, watch this one.

The ending was not what I expected at all from watching the teasers.
It kept me up for awhile in bed just thinking about it though, the thought of knowing that the plot could be true was what creeped me out.

              Hey Alkasquawlik

Not to spoil the movies ending, I think that they were so close to make a perfect film and recap what was said during the movie by Cage itself about the human kind being the fruit of trials and errors that turned well, vs everything having a reason to be.

If the last scene had showed only one spaceship having dropped a "couple" then it would have made sense, knowing that many, many spaceships may have dropped other couples onto other planets. This would have been the final "loop" in the story.
