I think the make stupid shit happen on purpose, because a good portion of the automotive community just wants to see what stupid, unrealistic bullshit they can come up with. For example going 100mph backwards, yelling at computers, floorboards unbolting at speed (1st movie), and on and on. And that stupid eclipse in the second movie looked like it was lifted about 2 inches.

Hell I watched a 18 year old kid literally drag his 21 year old girlfriend across the parking lot, throw her on the ground, kick her in the side, and muffle her so she couldn't scream last week in my complex. I called the cops, they arrested the girl for drunk in public, the guy "didn't want to press charges" and the cops didn't care to hear anything from me or my girlfriend or THREE OTHER NEIGHBOORS that all called the cops cause they watched this guy laying into the poor girl.

Fuck cops. 10% of them are good guys, 90% of them are crap
