It isn't a matter of "Well I don't want to make double the amount of money I am making now because it is an unimportant job." it is a matter of does money really work as a motivator in terms of better work performance, or do other factors work better?
Once again, you are not correct. The video is not referencing base salary - it's referencing incentives.

I know that people often fail reading conprehension tests but I never even thought that people can struggle with video comprehension.

I am trying to conceptualize things for them because people keep mention salary and things. Sorry if that is a problem for you. People are having a problem understanding the whole bonus thing.

Well, you can't compare the two.

Whiddled down moral of the video:

Pay high skill employees enough money so that they don't worry about it.
Continue to incentivize low skill workers pavlovian style.
Give your cerebral employees free use of business capital for noble purposes.

Yeah, this video has absolutely nothing to do with wealth, but rather motivation and compensation. It makes sense that the video shows people who are in jobs of mental skill aren't motivated as those are in physical labor work. Sure, people worry about money and getting raises, but most of them are also not happy anyway and buying more things won't fix that either. I agree people need to have more freedom to explore what they want and master their skills instead of necessarily just churn out work for more money.

But then again, there is lots of labor done in society by people who are motivated like horses. And providing welfare for them without any incentive to have to earn their own survival eliminates their motivation to do their job. The janitors, drivers, or fast food employees don't have the same intrinsic rewards someone who is designing or innovating may enjoy and they are after that carrot to provide themselves with necessities.

Trying to treat everyone the same will end in failure. What the video should drive is not to throw out what we know about motivation and compensation for the physical laborers, but rather think of more creative ways to reward innovation and invention. You have to think more along the lines of Brave New World with different levels of people and work being happy in their jobs for different reasons.

Wealth is crucial to our society, as without it we are simply consuming with what we take in, and there is no investment, borrowing, or dream to provide children with a better life than we were born into. Money may not be the only motivator for creating when making something in itself is reason enough, but one does need to make sure their offspring are cared for. Wealth also enables inspired children to work on causes that they may not be able to if they are desperate for money to survive. But at the same time, being provided with money or welfare without the proper upbringing brings on spoiled or lazy behavior and wastes the gift. (Look at Greece right now, people protests like a brat who has their allowance cut off and not like a broke parent/country can do anything when they forget what it is to provide for themselves)
