Now Hungary is claiming a financial crisis, can the Euro survive?

Greece is going to default, there doesn't seem to be anyway around it. It was there cooked books and overzealous bankers in Brussels that got them into the Euro in the first place, they were never stable/strong enough to be there.
Spain made a public debt offering that didn't sell. They are also enjoying 20% unemployment (yay Socialism!).
Portugal and Italy while not in crisis mode at the moment aren't far behind.

Hungary seems to have come out of nowhere.

Since these countries don't have their own currency to inflate their way out of debt, will the Euro be able to survive?

France and Germany are going to love being left on the hook for Greece.

Do you kiddies who dream of a Socialist Utopia still not get it?

Maybe Russia can help them out with a land swap? I hear they still want a warm water port.

I think that this mess in Europe could end up benefiting us although it could go either way. It seems that many countries are dropping their Euro's and investing in dollars, also it's going to mean cheaper goods which is never a bad thing. On the other hand, it's going to hurt our investments. But then again what do I know, I am just an arm chair economist. I do hope this recovery continues though and we don't fall back to where we were a year and a half ago. Man, it would be nice if China had a recession though.

I'm just really hoping this will wake up the citizens of America to realize that cradle-to-grave society is unstainable.

And we need to move back to a limited safety-net system that incourages and rewards risk.

I was just taking a shower after diagnosing a car, and I had a thought.

"We were a lot better of in a society where we were simply told, not led to how to do it. Pull up your pants, get a haircut before it touches your collar, etc."

Hungary is still on the Forint, but they take euro as well. They are a country thats still reluctant to switch over to the euro, a result of the exchange of the Forint to Euro is 1 Hungarian forint = 0.0035 euros.

You can get some sick travel deals in Hungary right now. The dollar goes pretty far there too. Budapest is a city that was not ravaged and bombed in WWII, the food is good and cheap, and the women are hot eastern european!

I've often joked about this, but honestly I liked damn near everything about the "good old days" and I think I would have rather lived 50 years ago. No e30 to drive, but I'd give that up if I had to. ;)

How much do you wanna bet that if it dies, someone suggests making one world currency?

You'd be driving a 2002 and hitting on foxy ladies with your groovy sideburns.

I would disagree. If you are a US business it will become more difficult to compete with European goods because they will effectively be dropping in price as the Euro sinks towards parity with USD. It might be great for consumers but only until the companies they work for go under because they can't compete with more affordable goods coming from "weaker" Euro countries. Remember Obama's call to double exports in the next 5 years? That isn't going to happen with a strong dollar. Quite frankly the next 5-10 years are going to be a mess.
