The man loves the British health care system.

not the 1st time a recess appointment has been used, all of them do it.

But yes I agree that this is kinda overly wrong, because of the timing (a 2 week recess) and because the ass hole and DEMS's dont want to get the heath care debate fired back up again, thats a can of worms they dont want to go near as the mid terms get even closer. Many of them that voted for it think we have all forgotten about since we are not squawking about it much any longer, but most of those that vote have not, still over 60% of the citizenry want it repealed.

Want to explain how a recess appointment violates the specific article of the constitution that it authorizes it?

Since you seemingly forgot what the actual law says:

The President shall have Power to fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Senate, by granting Commissions which shall expire at the End of their next Session.
Will a search of your post history here show you bitching about when Bush appointed John Bolton as the U.N. Ambassador under similar circumstances?

            ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Those provisions were set forth so a job would not sit empty for months and months when congress used to have recesses that lasted 3-4 months. Now they are not gone for that long. this one is 2 weeks, this position has been vacant for a while now, 0 could have appointed him a month ago, or waited another 2 weeks and done it the right way.

They have gone about it this way to avoid opening up the Heath Care Debate can of worms again thats it. Its been done to avoid a very specific argument and to keep from bringing it to the for front of discussion again thats it. Its under handed and dirty.

But yes your right POTUS have and do it, just this is a little more underhanded than most, this is a man that will be running the GOVT heath care systems and openly favors rationing and the way the british run their single payer, which can and will effect the quality of care untold millions of people in the country will receive. There is a big difference between that and a UN ambassador

              That's all you got???

Yes I'm against that as well. I dislike Bush (almost) as much i I's sure you do. Your point?

Now that we are past the semantics.....and justifications of other Presidents doing anti-Constitutional things to justify other Presidents actions....thanks Frank.....

you know what the point here is don't you?
the fucking democrats wouldn't bring this health care rationing socialist up for a floor vote/debate
with bolton the democrats blocked him at every term, he was debated and parsed
this appointment is ONLY to avoid the political fallout of reminding the voting public that the fucking democrats rammed an unpopular law up our collective asses. that is why obama did this and its the only reason he did this. THAT is why its wrong

He's sure written enough books on the matter. Not that it automatically makes him the very best option, but who would you task with this?

Appointing someone with the task of eliminating waste in the system sounds like a good thing to me. At least compared to having this system in place without anyone keeping an eye on things.

                    the constitution mandates senate approval
obama can appoint whomever he thinks is qualified, that is his responsibility
the senate is supposed to confirm the appointments which is a check on presidential power. this guy, whether qualified or not, is supposed to go before the senate and be questioned and ratified, which the democrats refused to do. this is not about republicans blocking his appointment. this is about the pres avoiding the issue all together. with bolton, the democrats blocked his ratification and the pres did a recess appointment. recess appointments are so the position is filled, which can be important, but also mandates the expiration of the appointment after the first year. obama's appointment was never blocked, nor did the candidate ever testify in front of the senate.

                    THAT is why its wrong

it is almost as if you guys just got here and do not realize that to be a politician you need to be underhanded and you need to be able to make things happen however you can. I challenge all of you to name one president in the past 100 years that has not had some type of a shady dealing. I venture to say all of them have, the difference now is technology allows us to stay on top of them unlike ever before. Have you ever wondered why our national bird is the bald eagle? It is a bully and an oportunist, just like our politicians!

other than your comment about the bald eagle, you're right on the money
and if we, all of us, allow politicians to continue as they have for the past 70yrs (since FDR), the bullshit will continue
its time to hold all politicians to a higher standard and vote the bastards out

It's not surprising that this happened considering republicans in the senate have outright said that they will try to stall/bust as much as possible regardless of who the choice is.
