Let me clarify the post I made earlier:

I read two reports that say that the cap is leaking slightly and that there is seepage in the area - so we are not out of the woods yet. It's too early to take credit for fixing the problem and solving the tragedy as it's not resolved.

that seepage is likely natural, and just coincidental

about the 4th line in that article.

But yes if there the casing has been compromised and or there is hydrocarbons getting past the bottom cement seal and into the well bore it is a very very bad situation and a possibility there is some connection.

        ^^ This.

And, they are saying the seep two miles away is not related.

Could it be? Did they deplete the reserve in this pool too quick and the seafloor gave way and sunk?

NO Dammit will you stop with that :)

there is 18k feet of hard bed rock between the sea floor and the oil holding formation. Its not like its a pool of oil in a sink hole, its more than likely sand stone or at the very least some other pours rock. The pressure yes to some degree does come from gravity and the weight of the material above, but more so the huge pressure from the Natural Gas thats is trapped in the formation.

                Wait a god damn second.

Are you saying creating industries that wouldn't be competitive without gov't subsidies and in which positions cost the equivalent of an avg normal americans salary of 30 years ISN'T a good thing?

                Surely you jest good sir.

I heard a statistic about the jobs created within the scope of the "recovery" cost the US taxpayers $500,000 each.

I believe the Spain "green-energy" jobs were around $775,000 each.
