    Newt wants totalitarian America?

Gingrich, writing on his blog, said there should be no house of worship for Muslims near Ground Zero in New York "so long as there are no churches or synagogues in Saudi Arabia."

WTF? Since when do we base our concepts of religious freedom on those of totalitarian regimes? Is this what he wants?

    And this:

"America is experiencing an Islamist cultural-political offensive designed to undermine and destroy our civilization."

This is paranoid fear-mongering of the worst kind.

And freakin' Dean is endorsing him.

Sorry, but it's true. You claim fear-mongering, I say it's something to be frightened of.

No Mosque (spelling?) should be set up anywhere near ground zero. Anyone, and I mean ANYONE that doesn't see the blatant disregard and bad taste that erecting a house of Muslim worship at ground zero needs to re-check their world view.

Tantamount to Pissing in the mouths of the familys of those who died in the savage attack against innocent civilians.

^^^^Have you ever been to NYC? The building is not "at" the site. It ain't like NYC is a little town surrounded by cornfields and someone picked the spot just to piss people off. If they wanted to do that they could have put it across the street from GZ. It's a vacant Burlington Coat Factory building that was actually damaged during the attacks.

I'm sorry you are skeered of Muslims, but America wasn't attacked by ISLAM. It was attacked, if you believe the 9/11 report, by extremists who happen to live in a country that practices Islam. Big difference. It's like saying that since these people, or the KKK say they're the true Christians, that all Christians should be run out of town because they might start acting similarly. How un-American.

So long as the people who want to build this thing to worship their god are law-abiding American citizens, it is their Constitutional Right to build it where ever they see fit.

But, please.....don't allow me to stop you from being led right to the trough of "hatred of the other". It worked for Goebbels and it will work here too. It's already begun. People are talking about the hoary old Muslim custom of building their places of worship on the sites of a conquered people's former place of worship:

The Historian Sita Ram Goel has estimated that over 2,000 mosques in India were built on the sites of Hindu temples for the same reason, to demonstrate Muslim superiority. The Ground Zero Mosque is no different. It follows the same well-worn path always traveled by this warrior religion; Radical Muslims view Ground Zero as a battle-field upon which they prevailed. Building a mosque there is a calculated statement that says, “we won…we will beat you again.” It cannot stand.

Fine. But if the Muslims had won a military victory here, the fucking thing wouldn't be two blocks away would it?! To NOT have it actually on the grounds where the towers stood would be seen as a failure, not a victory, were the paranoids correct. Warrior religion? Hah. Let's talk about the Crusades and the Conquistadors, not to mention the conquest of America. Indians are different? Those fucking heathen non-human animal savages need to be exterminated in the name of God.

This is just more be-scared bullshit from the people who need your votes to keep their cushy jobs. No recession for the fear-mongers. Business is booming for both parties these days.

Can’t we just admit that religion is the greatest obstacle to humanity co-existing peacefully, and outlaw all the bullshit dogmatic utterances from on high?

I do see your point about having the right to place the Mosque where proposed, however, i feel that these actions lack respect towards the families affected by 9/11.

Maybe because many Muslims are terrorists? And active.

The guy putting the mosque up refuses to say where the money is from and refuses to denounce Hamas.

                  This one?

That place is so small they got people doing their thing out on the sidewalk.

So, had the extremists supposedly been Catholic, would you all be screaming for the razing of the nearby Catholic Cathedral that actually overlooks the site? Or would you contend that even though the Christian book says things like an eye for an eye, and that everyone who doesn't accept its version of God is going to burn in hell forever, isn't really what it says and that most Christians are NOT extremist whack jobs so we should leave it alone?

Are some of you really so small-minded as to believe that all Muslims are of the same mindset? The very nature of the random killing that occurred on 9/11 flies in the face of what Islam preaches, which is why so many Muslims decried the act.

Money trail? Isn't that what the Patriot Act is supposed to follow? They haven't totally raised the bread yet, either. But the fevered press coverage and ignorant knee jerk protesters have just about guaranteed that at this point.....

Last thing: Let's not forget that the evidence, according to the FBI, regarding the true identities of the 9/11 hijackers is thin on the ground. Several turned up alive later, and even the director believed that so-called evidence left behind suggesting the hijackers were in fact Islamic extremists may well have been planted for purposes of disinformation. We do know some of them went to strip clubs prior to 9/11 against Sharia Law. 72 virgins waiting in the afterlife, and they gotta get a peek at naked chics and drink beer before they go? Something doesn't add up, boys.

At least it wouldn't be the first time we've thrown the Constitution out the window at the strident request of the "offended".

Hey OP why don't you mention also that the dude who wants to put that mosque there also wants more sharia law in the US! Your ass doesn't even know what that is do you? You're a dumbass. That mosque is nothing more than a shrine to the terrorists who flew planes into those buildings. You're probably a dumbass who thinks this is ok but having god anywhere near a school is wrong.

If Catholics strapped bombs to their bodies you're damned right. So you just keep ignoring the facts here K. And keep trying to replace the truth with something else. Lets focus for just a moment on THIS Mosque shall we? Because you dumbass liberals can't seem to focus here.
This Mosque is going to be run by a man that refuses to say where the funding is coming from and refuses to denounce Hamas. In other words you think that it's okay (per the constitution hahahahaha) that if someone calls themselves a religion, that that alone makes it okay for them to put up a place of worship.
Liberals love using the Constitution to endanger the rest of us.

Oh, you called me a dumbass. That really hurt.

Frankly, since I believe God doesn't exist, it doesn't matter to me if he's anywhere near a school any more than it is a problem for Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny or any other man-made creation.

Sharia law? Fool. I work with half dozen brilliant Muslim scientists that put the knowledge and discipline of many others on their team to shame. We've talked at length about the misuse of the term "Sharia" in the news. What do you think Sharia law, as called for by Rauf, actually is? It might surprise you to find out.

You guys appear to labor under the incredibly misguided apprehension that somehow all Muslims function like the Borg from Star Trek. What one thinks they all think. Sorry, but you are wrong. My Muslim acquaintances are as varied in their religious habits as any bunch of Christians I've known. If they pray 5 times a day, I've never noticed. Two even have a beer now and again. They don't get drunk, but neither do most guys of their intellect. None of 'em eat pork, though. But we have a Puerto Rican guy that won't eat corn on the cob because to him, it's what pigs eat. He eats pork, though....go figure.

Joshh.....how typical of you to call someone with a different point of view than you a "liberal". Is it because I'm not skeered of the big Muslim boogeyman? Rauf is one man. I do not believe he speaks for all Muslims any more than Jeremiah Wright speaks for all Christians.

Answer this: does the Constitution of the US guarantee religious freedom to her citizens or not? Simple question. Yes or no. It's not a partisan question. It's an American question.

American citizens have that right which is a fact you seem all too willing to ignore.

Islam may breed fanatic killing monkeys, but christianity and catholicism breed child rapists.

This is the only part that seems really fucked up to me and makes me question the motives of the would be founder of the mosque. It just seems to be in poor taste in view of what most Americans seem to believe about the 9/11 attacks.

i see no problem with a mosque near ground zero. Equating the terrorist acts committed on 9/11/01 to Islam as a whole is like saying Timothy McVeigh and his ideologies represented Christianity as a whole. 99.999% of Muslims practice Islam in a completely peaceful manner. Just as 99.999% of Christians practice their beliefs in an equally peaceful manner.
