EPA now declares war on dust

In the latest step in its review of the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) established the foundation for unprecedented regulation of dust. According to EPA’s Second Draft Policy Assessment for Particulate Matter (PM), issued late last week, EPA may consider regulating coarse PM at levels as low as 65-85 µg/m3, twice as stringent as the current standard. Both the National Cattlemen's Beef Association and the American Farm Bureau are raising alarms in farm and ranch country about this latest push by the EPA to actively oppose farmers and ranchers from being allowed to do their everyday work out in the country- especially in drier areas of the US.
    ........................

Because of the high dust levels found in arid climates, many critical western industries have a difficult time meeting the current standard of 150 µg/m3. In some of these areas, “no-till” days have already been proposed for agriculture, severely hindering farmers’ ability to maintain productive operations.

“Farmers could be fined for everyday activities like driving a tractor down a dirt road or tilling a field,” said Thies. “It would effectively bring economic growth and development to a halt in many areas of the country.”

Really dust, 1st CO2 now dust. really come on this is getting way outta hand. I will reaffirm my position that the EPA needs to GO AWAY. It become a punishment arm of the federal govt just like the IRS and this purposed mandate is more of the same.

any one say bread lines. Whats the best way to control a population. HUNGER. the more they can hinder farmers from production, and control the food supply the more control the govt will have.

Look at all the great totalitarian govt take overs in history, most of them used food supply to starve and control the masses into submission.

I am going to go find my tin foil hat now.

All that said Dust is a natural part of life period, fucking govt is getting way outta control.

We pay farmers not to farm. They fucking well can make some sacrifices and cut down on the shit they throw into the air.

Mind you, I'd be much happier if we just stopped wasting money on farmer entitlements. We could cut pollution dramatically by not paying farmers to farm for no damned reason.

And you would never be able to eat on your wages. Don't pay the farmers, end up with $27.99 for a head of lettuce. It's a fuct up system, but it's been that way too long that any change would cause the whole system to explode, kinda like what it's on it's way to now.

                  ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Knows little to nothing about farming

While I am not big on Farm Subsides ( Oh and paid not farm/crop destruction, ect... Was a FDR thing to keep the prices UP during the depression), and think farmers stand a chance to earn more money in a freer market. Its the subsides for growing corn for ethanol that pisses me off, talk about farming for no reason.

Oh in case you didnt get it, this article has nothing to do with emissions and shit that comes outta the engines of farm equipment, it has to do with dirt in the air. This could apply to you while driving down a gravel drive way or road. Its DUST and based on and set conservatively low as it is now based on a very old inconclusive study.

sounds to me like this was sponsored by the company that makes the chemical to keep dust on the ground instead of being kicked up in the air.

or by PETA to reduce the eating of cattle ;)

Yeah city dwellers that grow a tomato plant on their window ledge, that think they know how food is produced make me laugh. Really 90% of the people in this country have no clue where their food comes form.
