You like to be friendly? Then why are my feelings hurt. I have done no such name calling. I call for your ban now. And to the dude claiming there is no democracy here in the US I think you're just trying to be a bit picky because its me saying it. By popular usage, the word "democracy" has come to mean a form of government in which the government derives its power from the people and is accountable to them for the use of that power. In this sense the United States might accurately be called a democracy. Yes I know we were founded as a republic and are not a pure democracy. Thank you anyways though.

Just picking on you because you seem to think O is doing something different than other presidents before him. Hell, they called Bush a socialist!

"...with his 2003 Medicare legislation, President Bush and the Republicans in Congress instituted additions which blew that program up to a size of unprecedented proportions, increasing Medicare costs by at least $534 billion in 10 years."

"The president also continued with his government expansionist policies with regards to education. His No Child Left Behind Act, while well-intentioned and including many good policies (at least, in theory), expanded the range of the federal government in matters of education to abhorrent levels. And to make matters worse, like what had happened under the Clinton administration with his NSEA law, the federal government failed to fund the mandates of its own program. This consequently resulted in increased strain for the states, which had to and continue to have to reach into their own pockets to fund the mandates required of them by the act. The government shouldn’t have instituted this expansionist program in the first place, let alone not fund it while it is in place."

            It ain't just O!

And, boy, would I love to know how many Tea Party elders are enjoying the fruits of the kinds of entitlements that they rail against like those free scooters!

And the Tea Party better be prepared for disappointment! Their candidates have been out there promising things that will be virtually impossible to achieve.

"If the Tea Partiers had a different agenda, this might not be such a big problem, but at the core of the Tea Party is a giant contradiction that is going to have to be faced once the excitement of the election is over and done with. Stripped of all the "take our country back" rhetoric and patriotic garb, the Tea Party's basic two tenets are mutually exclusive. The Tea Partiers say they stand for (1) lower taxes, and (2) cutting the deficit. But they're going to have to realize (about the time that their first budget proposal comes back from the Congressional Budget Office with some numbers attached to it) that you simply can't do both right now. Even conservative news outlets have all but given up on the fantasy that "tax cuts pay for themselves" (as evidenced by the brutal interview of Carly Fiorina yesterday by Chris Wallace of Fox News Sunday), and are pointing out that extending the Bush tax cuts (for example) is going to raise the deficit by trillions of dollars."

I think it would be great if all those entitlements were easy to get rid of, but if Tea Party candidates said things like "better get used to doing without that Federal disability check if you elect me" they wouldn't get elected!

There are no Bush lovers here...only liberals who reference Bush everytime we hurt their feelings about Obama. Who do you think all this stimulus started with? Duh it was Bush and guess what? He was no conservative. And yes you can cut taxes and lower the deficit. We have over extended ourselves so now its time to suck it up and feel the pain. Cuts in government across the board, let banks and businesses fail and go through bankruptcy, and cut taxes and let businesses flourish. Yeah there is going to be some pain but we'd already be out of this if it happened in the beginning. Just look at history for proof. Just think about it this way. If things get worse and our dollar is worth nothing what do we have to trade with other countries? NOTHING!!! Thats right because business is so expensive to run here that everything gets made overseas. Everything we are doing has been done in the past and has not work and right now you can see it not working in other countries. Raising taxes is only the answer for people who have spending problems. DO you honestly believe that when the government raises taxes they'll start controlling their spending?

this election is going to be no better than the one before or the ones before that. Soon America will have to reboot and install a new OS. Its been years in the making!

Your inability to construct a complete, and grammatically correct, sentence really hinders your argument.

No legitimate economist has advocated for letting large banks fail.

What you're outlining, or attempting to, isn't anything new and/or outrageous. People have unrealistic expectations. The same people that bitch about jobs going overseas, are the same people who buy their products at WalMart because prices at other stores are "too high."

That's only part of the problem. Taxes and regulatory requirements certainly have their costs, but the real issue is that Americans won't put up with being paid so little that they are forced to move away from their families and live in company dormitories because they are paid so little. Health care? Fuhgeddaboutit. Visitors from outside? Nope.

But we're all too happy to reap the short term benefit of being able to buy loads of cheap, disposable crap at Walmart....

Would you be willing to pay $600 for an iPod Classic if it employed hundreds of American workers at a livable wage? I would in a heartbeat. There would be little need for entitlements if more Americans could actually find good paying jobs that don't require a lot of education. Not everyone is cut out for college, and we only need so many plumbers, janitors and trash collectors....

I never stated that I support higher taxes. And I would love to see m u c h l e s s spending on things that don't support the physical infrastructure the country relies upon. But who's gonna vote for it? Old people vote for whoever they think will preserve their idea of the status quo, or turn back the clock to the "good ol' days". What candidate is willing to tell them the hard truths? A candidate who actually had the balls to say they will end Medicaid wouldn't last 10 minutes.....the AARP would authorize a hit!
