If Obamacare is not repealed by 2014.....

Our HR dept just informed us they will be dropping our insurance and paying the penalty. Because it will be cheaper to pay the penalty than provide coverage.

Then again, the penalties were set low so that exact thing would thing happen.

Why not, easier that way just like the home loan modification process. That program is a lost cause too. I was watching c-span this morning and looks like most companies just didn't want to work with borrowers to get them need breather space.

    More foreclosures in the future.

I'm hoping that doesn't happen to us but I know my policy runs higher than the penalty. The really annoying fucking thing is I think if they do then I wont see any benefit from it. Its part of my compensation package and I seriously doubt they are going to say, "well, we saved 3 grand on sending you to the exchanges so here is 3 grand in salary."

Im optimistic though, this company is in the "best places to work" thing so they try not to fuck their employees over.

I'd just love to see Obama and his crew try to explain after his Health Care plan failed (low approval and high disapproval ratings) how a Government single payer system is the real solution. Blame it on the Republicans that the single payer was the real solution all along....lol.

But I don't see the Republicans getting anything done with Obama as the president even if they take the House and Senate. So much for non partisanship. The Republicans made a plan that will be nearly impossible to get done.

Did you watch the today's episode if not then please don't sprout jibberish. There are many out there trying to pay there loan but many are seeing undo rise in fees and taxes due to foreclosures, If you are not affected and don't know of the bs please don't try to say other wise.

I am not but my gal is so I see this on a monthly basis,

Same here. With my wife on my plan (and they won't have to pay the penalty for here since she isn't an employee) I think they essentially slightly more than double the penalty to provide us both with health insurance.

All the more reason I've begun working on a business plan so I can go into business for myself.

Good insurance/401k/etc is the only reason I work "for the man" anyway, so if they are going to take away that incentive.........

                    So I enrolled yesterday......final verdict?

Along with raising copays/deductibles, my portion of the premiums increased 20%.

Really makes you happy when you see the company turned a massive profit and doubled their amount of cash on hand between last year and this year.

Fuck over your employees, use government as scapegoat, standard procedure.

Does your company have any explanation as to why they're actively making your situation worse? Are the employees easily replaceable? Do they want to have a high churn rate to keep recently-unemployed people on the payroll for cheap?

                        Nope, we asked, no answer.

Some of us are, some of aren't. For the most part, we aren't.

We have a very defined area of expertise, there is only 1 (possibly 2) other companies in the country that build what we do. So the intracies of what we build, how we build it, getting past gov't mandated tests, etc.

Also our area of expertise leads to very well paying jobs. I was recruited by another company to do Tech Writing for them (different industry), they wanted to keep move me from hourly to salary with the same money and basically forced 5-10 hours OT a week.

I also get to work 4 10s and have permanent 3 day weekends, sometimes 4 day weekends depending on how the holidays fall.

In other words, at the moment, the perks/benefits are still outweighing the downsides.

But my eyes are always open. ;)

Why is there even a way to opt out of Obama Care?

I don't know if you've ever owned a company before but it requires money to keep one going. If that includes cutting benefits that's just business unfortunately.

While shitty, you can't blame people for wanting money. Unless of course you truly don't want it? As in, you have no aspiration to making say, 10% more than you do now in 10 years? 1% a year increase? Or no?

Then again, I think, and truly subscribe (to the detriment of my own small business) that happy employee's that you take care of are better employee's. I only had 2 people working for/with me but, if we pulled a job out in 3 days under deadline and could turn around a good 5% extra profit, it went directly to them.

However, I was only in business a little under a year.
