Yemen terror alert: Obama says explosives found

    at least it was stopped

Barack Obama says two suspicious packages bound for the US appear to have contained explosive materials and constituted a "credible terrorist threat".

"US fighter jets escorted Emirates flight 201 from Dubai into New York, with officials saying the action was being taken "out of an abundance of caution" because cargo from Yemen was on board"

So what, are the supposed explosives going to transform into a terrorist strike force and take over the plane? Sounds like a waste of jet fuel to me.

Also, what's an "ink toner cartridge"? This further exemplifies my low opinion of both journalists and DHS. Closing off roads to a shipping depot? That'll show that non-explosive toner cartridge who's boss.

Do they come with a special epoxy coating to keep the ink and toner together?

Ink is well ink, and toner is the power used in laser printers.

I'm being exceedingly sarcastic, and implying that "ink toner cartridges" are a non-existent item. They're separate items, so the epoxy comment meant that one had merged them, much in the way a kayle-co muffler bearing merges two non-related items.

Do we really have to argue something so semantic? Maybe they didn't know if it was toner or ink cartridges....or maybe it was both.

If the bombs were already here I'm sure our homeland security would have failed to find them so this is a very good thing.

Only an idiot would mail a bomb through customs. That's asking to get caught. The point isn't that it was ink or toner cartridges, the point is they don't seem to know the difference between a bomb and a toner cartridge.

Evidently you do not know how shipping works in this world. UPS and FedEx only scan about 10% of its packages in and out of this country. The amount of packages that travel overnight is staggering. With those odds Im sure many have already gotten though. Or these are the first, being inert, as a test run to test the delivery. Articles said that a really good source alerted the US about these packages. Gave them direct information on the shipment. And they found it from the tip off. If it was not for that. Who knows!
