Federal employees to get a pay raise.

While the pay raise is expected to be 1.4-2.1% is this what we need right now while we are so heavily in debt as country?

It's too bad the new tax proposal released yesterday won't have a chance in hell of being passed.

Federed pay freezes for the next three years while cutting 10% of the Fed workforce.

By "economy", I meant Blunt Tech. 4 Bimmers and a classic Mini keep me bu$y.

Where I work, our budget was cut by 30% for FY 11. (started October 1st) And even that money has been slow to arrive. It's not pretty.

Dramatically. The pay has risen at insane rates as well. Which is precisely why it needs to reigned in.

•Government-wide raises. Top-paid staff have increased in every department and agency. The Defense Department had nine civilians earning $170,000 or more in 2005, 214 when Obama took office and 994 in June.

In 5 years the number of people earning $170k increased ONE HUNDRED TEN TIMES??????

•Long-time workers thrive. The biggest pay hikes have gone to employees who have been with the government for 15 to 24 years. Since 2005, average salaries for this group climbed 25% compared with a 9% inflation rate.

So raises doubling inflation, and the Federal gov't doesn't give out "performance raises" because of the opportunity for discrimination/favoritism suits, so depts get across the board raises and such.

This coming from my mother who works in the Federal District Atty's office.

Exactly and we can't continue to pay their rates. That being said the military is yet again being cut back on staff yet we are still at war. Maybe congress needs to talk a pay cut, but we know that will never happen.

Pensions are a bigger threat. Used to be you traded off a mediocre salary for a good steady pension and good benefits by working in government, now government pays more than the private sector AND still has the crippling pensions attached to it.

                      That

Cant have your cake and eat it too, but thats what the govt and its unions have gotten us. Even FDR realized that the Public employees should nto be allowed the Collectively bargain the same as private industry could. And thats how we have gotten what we got,

yup there is lots of good stuff in it and some bad, the big one that comes to mind is the 15c added to the federal GAS tax. Just what we need to make fuel even more fucking expensive when we are on the precipice of Hyper inflation, and massive devaluation of the dollar. Well that is if the fed goes thourgh with its debt monetization (sp) plan

That is fucking retarded, no one in the government or the banks needs a pay raise.

Actually the gas tax wouldn't bother me if it would actually go back to infrastructure. So much of it in this country is literally crumbling around us.

What's your definition of hyperinflation? To me hyperinflation means even worse than the 10-15% of the 70s. And I just don't think 50% inflation or something like Zimbabwe is going to happen here.

Maybe devaluation will force China to boost their currency and help our exports? Who knows.

Yup that would be nice, do you really see all that money going back to it????? The feds alone already take enough in from oil and gas taxation that we should all have the newest and best roads bridges sewers and water distribution systems in the world (not that we dont) or at least maintained better. But NO since the 70's we have been pouring all that money and then some into Social Programs rather than what the taxes were levied for and the money intended. DOnt get me started on HWY funding where you have states like MI that are falling apart that get 75 cents on the dollar for what they send to the feds for HWY funding. and states like CA that get about a buck 25 back for every dollar they send in

Yeah thats what is going they are trying to lower our dollars value so it can run with China. But once you start that downward slide there will likely be no stopping it.

that and do some digging into George Soros seems hes been part of currency collapses all over the place and now seems like he got his sights on the USA. The puzzle pieces fit as much as I have seen, have been really busy lately to really get into shit like this.

Isn't it nearly impossible to fire a government employee and also to lower their wages? So every new hire and every pay raise is essentially a permanent growth of government? Am I right?

                              What. A. Joke.
