shit you are right , I was for some reason under the impression that it made it thought the 110th congress on the oil business alone. +1 to you sir.

Yes all business has to pay taxes but again is it right that in 25 years that the oil industry remitts more than 3 times its net profits to the Govts??????

08 XOM, RDS, BP, COP, CVX. (the 5 largest oil componies in the US) paid 123 BILLION in Corporate Income taxes for the year alone. Come on now who do you really think they ate those costs who paid all that, it was not OIL is was you and me and every one else that consumes anything there bud

That stat comes from the THE US GOVT. I am making nothing up, a little research passed the oil hating media, will show me to be correct. Your lack of understanding of how things work and the big picture is kinda pitiful

SHUT THE FUCK UP! We have one of the lowest gas taxes on the planet and you're still bitching.

Excessive taxes are bad yes but taxes HAVE TO exist because of externalities. Thats just the way things are man.

It's a big shell game. Oil companies get big handouts in various forms into one hand, and they pay what appears to be very large amounts of taxes, etc. with the other. But the fact remains that I seem to recall quarter after quarter of "record profits" for the most part. Meanwhile, the money trail is so murky, who really knows what the real numbers are?

It is clear, however, that refining capacity is kept low. We haven't opened a new refinery in the US in what, 30+ years? Sure, the ones that exist have grown more efficient, but still....

In 1982, the earliest year for which the Energy Information Administration has data, there were 301 operable refineries in the U.S., and they produced about 17.9 million barrels of oil per day. Today there are only 149 refineries, but they're producing 17.4 million barrels – less than in 1982, but more than any year since then. The increase in efficiency is impressive, but it's not enough to meet demand: U.S. oil consumption is 20.7 million barrels per day.

            Article here.

Quit your bitching about taxes on oil. I live in the province with the second largest oil deposit in the world and more oily bitumen 3 hours north than the rest worlds conventional supply combined, and still pay more for gasoline than you do. You do not have it bad.

Just wait. Someone in this thread has a future as a lobbyist. For religion. I mean oil. Wait, is there a difference?

I would be a great lobbyist.

I should put a call into Jim Inhofe and see if he can help me out with that, he is the guy that appointed my grandfather as county commisioner while Inhofe was mayor of Tulsa.
