how to Eliminate Inflammatory Right Winged Rhetoric

How to Eliminate ‘Inflammatory Right-Wing Rhetoric’

by Jeff Perren I don’t have much to say about the recent Arizona shootings by madman Jared Loughner, except this:

Many commentators almost as mad as Loughner have attempted to connect this lunatic’s actions to “inflammatory right-wing rhetoric.” I won’t go into here the long list of inflammatory left-wing rhetoric (and actions) that spill over into open violence. (Michelle Malkin has a good summary — with detailed proof — if you’re interested.)
    Instead, I’ll make a suggestion.
If the Left wants to eliminate at a stroke the vast majority of heated, hated right-wing rhetoric there’s a very simple way to do that: give up.
Get out of the way. Stop advocating the violation of individual rights every day in every way. Stop trying to get legislation passed that steals private property for the purpose of funding your favorite social engineering goals. Stop extolling the alleged virtue of interpreting the U.S. Constitution in ways that further Progressive goals. End your advocacy of coercion through government.
Your cause is not noble, your methods are not virtuous, your philosophy is not just. Your ideas are more than mistaken; they’re immoral, impractical, and unconstitutional. Change your philosophy and change your behavior and ‘the Right’ will have no longer have an incentive to fight back against your support for squishy tyranny.

Until then, you can expect the rhetoric to continue. A vocal segment of the American people will simply no longer sit back passively and watch their freedom get corroded away, one bad edict at a time.
Until then, the intellectual revolution to restore it will continue undiminished.

    Very well put!

      I'm with z31.

Is there any chance that the articles you think are "blaming the right" are really just pieces about the rhetoric and hyperbole in today's politics that create an atmosphere where people (both stable and not) do things they wouldn't ordinarily do? From there, the discussions often go towards the fact that a lot of this vitriol comes from the one side more than the other, but I don't think there are as many saying "he did this because Palin did that" as you seem to think.

Not going to happen. There are far too many Americans relying on free hand outs now. They've gotten used to it and the Dems are there to fight for them.

You haven't been keeping very good track then because it's all over the damned place on MSNBC and even Fox has done several interviews with Congressmen about that very point. Let alone many blogs.

the problems facing the progressives and their goals is that most of what they advocate and aspire to is now in the open, as opposed to 10yrs ago when there was no internet and 24hr news was something brand new.

middle america has woken up to the progressive agenda and mostly does not like it. its not the far right that opposes progressivism (it does), the majority of americans oppose it and the left doesn't know what to do to counter it.

anyone (dr.dean, reid, etc) who feels the tea party movement is transitory and is going to fade away is so far out of touch with america its pathetic

When I think 'intelligent internet discourse' my first thought is to see what kind of youtube comments are posted about a given subject.

I've seen some of what you're talking about: implied direct connections between .jpg's, tweets, and this asshole. But much more has been about the political atmosphere being so radical that it makes people think and do things they wouldn't normally. The guy is clearly a lunatic - maybe if there wasn't so much dumb bullshit in politics, he could've been enraged about pop culture and killed a Kardashian or two, instead.

Cause we have proof of the direct correlation between the two. But what the fuck do i know that's not the argument. I'm just a kid.

LMFAO...I'll let that go because that last line was really funny (although soon to be outlawed apparently). Maybe I've been listening and watching too much. I just see a bunch of (place insult here) trying to find some other reason than the fact the shooter was a loon.

Every bloody bit of that (in the OP) could be, with only minor changes, aimed at the so-called conservatives.

We're talking politicians here, right? American politicians do, and have done for the better part of two centuries, what is in their best interests. Not yours and mine. Do you really believe that if every liberal in DC packed up today and left, much would really change? I don't.

The "Tea Party" has been sold out. It never had a chance. It will never, ever get what it wants because in its ranks are many thousands of people who are quite accustomed to government handouts of all kinds. Corporate welfare for the monied, and dozens of other freebies for the others.

According to the above link, 91% of Tea Partiers want a smaller government with fewer services. Despite this hostility to big government, 62% of Tea Partiers believe that Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid are worth the cost (apparently no one bothered to tell them that Social Security and Medicare are evil Godless socialist programs).

I seriously doubt they will want to watch their grannies die because they can't afford to buy the previously government funded meds that vanished when they got the smaller government they said they wanted.

I about fell out of my chair when I saw a Tea Partier in Nashville holding up a sign that said "KEEP THE GOVERNMENT OUT OF MEDICARE". Goddamn, do at least some of these people have any idea how the government works?

Wanna change DC for the better? Forget about the liberals and instead get rid of all the lobbyists! Institute campaign reform so that you don't have to be a millionaire to run for office. Then we might see some real people with real sense in there for a change.
