Basically, it boils down to:
The US somehow manages to keep a pro-American leader, either by subverting the current revolution process or seducing the head of it, all in secret. Things stay more or less as is internationally, Egypt hopefully gets a less repressive and dictatorial leadership.
OR
The revolution happens as it will, placing an unsurprisingly anti-American group of people in power. Unsurprising, because pretty much all Egyptians realize that American leaders have propped Mubarak up for the last 30 years despite what he's done to the people. Team America won't tolerate this situation for long because it puts pressure on Israel, which is known to go apeshit under pressure.
The people greatly prefer the second option, governments of most surrounding countries greatly prefer the first one. It will be interesting to see what happens.Comment

^I've never traveled in the Middle East so I take what the media says with a grain of salt.
Do most middle eastern countries truly hate us, or is it the fringe?

I think most people in the midle east are just like us. They want food and education and a way to support their families.
I think most of them could care less about who is in charge as long as they can just live their lives peicfuly... Maybe even buy an e30.
Every country has their right wing crazies.
Most of the suicide bombers are from poverty stricken areas and promised large sums of money for their families to carry out attacks.sigpic

A lot of people in the middle east recognize that the US has been meddling there substantially. They hate the US's political presence and manipulation, but most (besides the extremists) have absolutely no practical reason or desire to attack America because they recognize it as a corrupt government manipulating other corrupt governments.Comment

The ones who are currently worried are the Israelis. They trully need to keep a pro-American neighbour. Otherwise, you can say goodbye to the Gaza blockade. And more support to the Palestinians
Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

That's pretty shortsighted. If a new political power in Egypt opens the blockade and lets Gazans into Egypt, Israel will go apeshit on Sinai, Syria, and Lebanon at the same time, kind of like '67. IIRC Syria is already massing military forces at the border, just in case.Comment

wasnt there some sort of ass kicking going on in 67 ;)

Don't you just love how every time someone posts a legitimate fact or statement joshh just replies with a completely rhetorical and useless sentence? The poor douchebag doesn't have the slightest clue about how the world works so he lashes out at liberals and whatever else he can find in order to make himself feel validated. I'd sure like to see him back up a single one of his tin-foil-hat statements.
Anyone: 'Hey joshh, i have a reputable source of facts to back up my ideas. Here they are in detail. What do you have?
Joshh: 'fucking liberal scum lol'Comment
