there are even reports of the military looting. These artifacts will not be easily sold on any market and most likely be melted down for just weight. A really sad loss to the world and the Egyptian people.

Very good article, that despite not reflecting what most Americans think (especially a few "experts" on R3V), reflects the true situation. When in my first post I mentionned that Israel was the first country that needs to be scared, that is exactly reflected in the article. The artificial US-sponsored status quo (supporting another dictature to US' and Israel's best interests) will probably end soon when Egyptians regain their autonomy.

And guess what goes thru the Canal? Fuel. Bro. Fuel.
About 8% of the world's trade traverses the Suez, not all of that is oil. The Egypt can keep the canal to itself, but won't, they need the revenue. This won't be the reason if gas goes to $5, more complicated than your milkshake analogy. I drink your milkshake. :D

                  you know whats sad

we don't know if this is really a popular uprising or not, yet
but that didn't stop obama from coming out in favor of the muslim brotherhood gangsta's

but when there was an actual popular uprising in iran, that would have rid the world of actual terrorist leaders, obama said it was not wise to meddle

wtf? obama has no clue what it means to be the leader of the free world

You fail at reality. Neither Obama nor anyone in the administration has come out in support of the protesters or Mubarak, they have simply advocated a position of wanting non-violence from both sides and reforms to make the government more accountable to the people.

Also last time I checked Obama was president of the US, not the whole world.

And yes, this most certainly is a populist uprising. I would think the 100,000+ people in the streets every day, even without a clear leader, would have proved that to anyone with even a shadow of intelligence.

Hillary Clinton has come out in support of the anti-Mubarek protesters.

While I am inclined to agree with any group that wants to overthrow a dictator, there is no telling who would be put into power should Mubarek be deposed. It could very well end up like Iran did in 1979 with one dictator being replaced by another dictator.

                            that is the biggest problem.

                              Hillary Clinton is not Obama.

The potential for another dictator is a legitimate fear, as is potential usurping of the cause by the Muslim Brotherhood. However, I don't think "not overthrowing the current dictator" is a good solution for that potential problem.

But it couldn't be worst. Allow the people reestablish the democratic process and let them decide for themselve. If they want a religious or non-religious government, then be it. Their choice.
