No more explanation should be necessary knowing that. Hes entitled to that position so let him torpedo his own chances with it. why are you bitching there maritime. one of the better GOP top canidates is killing his chance with this thus leaving the 0 with a larger chance of getting a 2ed term.
I like a lot of what Huck has to say and stands up for, but his over religiosity, is what makes him nearly impossible to vote for and what kills him in moderates and independents minds.

^^^^ I am less of an O fan than you might think. He's part of a broken system. The GOP is desperate for some solid leadership. They have got to stop pandering to the cheap seats.
Can you imagine the complete and utter shitstorm if a Dem presidential hopeful said something like "providing free abortions was his number one priority over all other political issues"?
So Huckabee's likely done- and I too liked some of what he had to say.
Romney wont get the nod because he's not a Christian.
People are sick of Palin. So nothing there.
Gingrich has totally lost his mind.....
Michelle Bachmann? That would be bad.
So who's out there that not only has a clue about how to run a country, but has a clear focus on the needs of everyone in the country, not just the Bible toters?
Pawlenti favors teacher-led prayer in public schools as well as mandatory three strikes sentencing laws. Isn't that what judges are for? -to weigh the merits of each case? He's also strongly against reproductive rights for women. And here's a surprise: opposes absolute right to gun ownership.
Christie spent over his travel allowance while US Attorney and his kids go to parochial school. He favors more "accountability" in public schools whatever that means. IMO, teachers can't effectively teach unless there is support at home. If both parents are working two jobs because all the manufacturing jobs are gone, then there will be no home support.
I like Christie's brashness, but haven't heard whether he's willing to throw the corporate lobbyists out of DC and ban campaign contributions. Whoever can manage that will be my hero!
I really wish Palin would go away, she is beyond annoying and really has no redeeming qualities other than always being able to get some publicity.
Absolutely 100% in agreement. Few up here remember her as anything other than someone who quit their elected office to go on the big money lecture circuit after her VP defeat. Not cool.
Did not realize that about Pawlenti, just remember hearing/reading something awhile back about how he may be the next "star" of the GOP. Those things you posted there are more than enough to earn no support here.
The travel allowance thing doesn't bother me too much, do you have a quantifiable number? I'm not excusing breaking the rules, but unfortunately, nowadays I'd rather someone break the small rules, then the big ones. I'm sure his travel allowance doesn't even come close to Pelosi's the last few years.
The public schools thing, my guess is the constant mantra of "more money = better education" when that hasn't been shown to be the case. Harvard produced a study about the best way to improve education would be to abolish the Teacher's Unions.
I love the 10 min interview with the Teacher's Union that is on YouTube from last year.
Since you brought up campaign contributions, how would you prefer to candidates finance their candidacy? I'm not saying I agree with the current system, but how can it effectively be changed?

I can't stand hearing Huchabee speak. He's a want to be conservative. He's really a liberal moderate with a dab of crazy.
I dislike his politics so much I'd almost vote for Obama over him....almost. In reality, I just wouldn't vote.
He reminds me of a kid show host. With his soft "can't we all get along" voice trying to sooth you while saying things like abortion should be band. His religion gets in the way of his politics.

The far off religious fundies think our country has the problems we do because of sin. Eliminate that and "God's will" will fix everything. It's not far removed from what the Westboro Baptists are preaching...

I wouldn't go that far to bring WBC into this, but they are quite honestly, the definition of ultimate troll.

Glad you asked. There are two issues I would like campaign reform to address. First is one of corporate influence. Second is that of wealth. Since it is in the best interests of the public to have the best elected officials, and since many who are in office are individually quite well-off, I propose the only fair way to expose more people to the process and to also have more realistic representation of the American people is thus:
First, there would be equal funding and limited resources for all state level and above candidates. No personal funds could be used. No campaign contributions of any kind would be permitted. Media would be required to allot equal time to all candidates once chosen by their parties for a race. We would get to see how well candidates use their finite resources in seeking office.
Second, since the officials elected by these means will be relatively unencumbered by corporate stake-holders, the public they represent will likely have more faith in the process. These officials should also be shielded from traditional favor-seeking well-monied lobbyists and thus will be more likely to sponsor legislative efforts that truly benefit their constituency.

This is what I dug up:
Of the 208 individuals who served as U.S. attorneys during the period reviewed by the office of Inspector General Glenn A. Fine, from 2007 to 2009, five “exhibited a noteworthy pattern of exceeding the government rate and whose travel documentation provided insufficient, inaccurate, or no justification for the higher lodging rates.”…
According to the report, Christie exceeded the government rate without adequate justification the most often as a percentage of travel. The investigation found that he submitted 23 vouchers including reimbursement for lodging from 2007 to 2009, of which 15, or 65 percent, exceeded the government rate. The inspector general found insufficient justification for 14 of the 15 cases…
The report also took note of Christie’s reimbursements for transportation to and from airports. In Boston, for example, to travel a distance of four miles, he arranged for car service that cost $236 round-trip, instead of a taxi. And in London, car service between the airport and a hotel cost taxpayers $562 for a round trip.
That doesn't really bother me, though. The report doesn't say what he was charged for a one-way trip! Something smells funny there...
What does bother me is he has stated "every human life is sacred", but then signed the death penalty back into law. Can't have it both ways!
He has shown balls by appointing a judge who happens to be Muslim. "Best man for the job", said Christie, which totally pissed off anti-Muslim types that then cried "New Jersey is one step closer to Sharia Law"! Gimme a break!
