Diesel is more money only because the fuel companies charge more for it and they know that 85% of our distrobution is done by diesel semi's so that is why. It's criminal, it the least refined fuel compared to gasoline or E85 for that matter.
E15 is crap, hate the mileage lost too that shit and fact that it eats rubber is even worse. Oh and storing it for the winter, might as well poored vinegar in the fuel tank.

Yet, Energy Sec. Chu has confirmed the administration wants high gas prices to push people toward more efficient vehicles.

TDI is basically the same price as the next in line with equivalent trim. No one sells a cheap diesel in the US, people looking for a cheap car aren't looking at a new diesel.

I personally prefer 100% pure gas, but if you were running an NA car at altitude, you'd lose less power on e85 than on reg. gas.Last edited by u3b3rg33k; 03-02-2012, 03:29 PM.

Volt Production Suspended, due to piss poor sales. 1300 lay offs
Originally posted by articleChevy's electric car, the Volt, is running on empty. With sales lagging and inventories building, GM has decided to idle production of the Chevy Volt for five weeks. During that time, about 1,300 workers will temporarily be laid off. GM executives can not be happy that this move will once again raise questions about the viability and long term prospects for the Volt.
But in reality, they had no choice.
Volt sales have been so slow this year, the company needs to adjust production to demand. And so far, Volt demand has fallen well short of original expectations. Back when GM launched the Volt, it boldly targeted sales of 10,000 in 2011 and 60,000 in 2012. Last year, GM sold 7,671 Volts and just 1,626 this year

5 dollar a gallon gas will save that car and then dealerships will be able to charge a premium because a lack of production and available units.
(Tin foil hat, its obamas fault he purposely caused high gas prices so gm would be able to make this car be successful...... ;)

Remember though, Volt is a halo car. It's good they are aligning supply with demand, but Feb seemed good and gas prices are on the rise. They were overconfident at 60K a year, but the increase in hybridization and electrification engineering will be a long-term positive as will being able to say they were the first mass-production plug-in electric car.
The 2013 Malibu Eco is arriving and will be the bread and butter (24K sold a month in June 2011), with subtle hybridization which will give buyers good mpg and move GM towards the fleet mandated mpg, at a cheap price. That's gonna be leverage a whole LOT of electrification technology and experience.
eAssist? What eAssist?
The LaCrosse’s 2.4-liter four-cylinder is largely unchanged, save for a belt-driven electric motor/generator hanging off the front instead of an alternator. It can apply 15 hp and 79 lb-ft of torque to complement the engine’s 182 hp and 172 lb-ft. A 0.5-kWh [lithium-ion] battery feeds—and is fed by, during regenerative braking—the motor/generator and sits in a lump at the front of the trunk, obscuring 40 percent of the seatback and blocking part of the pass-through on the other 60 percent. (The Malibu and the Aura used a motor with 5 hp of assist attached to a nickel-metal hydride battery.) We’re told to expect a 0.2-second improvement in 0-to-60-mph times compared with the four-cylinder LaCrosse.
...Improved fuel efficiency — roughly 18 percent better, compared to Malibu's former gasoline-only four-banger. At the same time, the 2013 Malibu ECO, starting at $25,995, costs less to buy than such full-hybrid competitors as the 2012 Ford Fusion ($29,395) or the 2012 Toyota Camry ($26,660) — prices that may rise for 2013.
The result is an EPA fuel economy rating of 27 city/37 highway for Malibu ECO — notably better than the 22/33 rating of the 2012 Malibu four-cylinder, despite slightly more horsepower and torque. That said, it's still not in the same league as Malibu's full-hybrid competitors.
The primary difference between this "mild" hybrid and a "full" hybrid is that full hybrids, for short distances at low speeds, can run on pure electric power. Malibu ECO cannot. If the car is moving, the gasoline engine is turning.
For that reason, Malibu ECO, though handily beating the EPA ratings of non-hybrid competitors, does not approach the fuel economy ratings of the Camry hybrid (43 city/39 hwy/41 combined) or the Fusion hybrid (41 city/36 hwy/39 combined).
Still, eAssist makes this eighth-generation Malibu the most fuel-efficient Malibu ever, boasting a 580-mile cruising range. Also, it's said to be peppy — GM figures a zero-to-60 sprint takes less than 9 seconds — and, for a lower price, it's loaded with amenities while boasting snappy new styling.
I heard someone from TRW seek last night about how the industry's obsession is an affordable and well-integrated hybrid motor between the engine and transmission. GM is actually on the forefront and will win in the long-run because of it.
