WTF is wrong with this country?

The Nobel Peace Prize winner is launching Tomahawk missiles at Libya. At over a million a pop, you only need 2 of these to equal the amount given to NPR from government grants.

WTF is happening to this country? Did Obama not get the memo that we are flat broke?

They are more like $575k each.

NPR only receives $2 million/year from the Feds?

Do you need to check your numbers and repost while not inebriated?

You mean the same Japan that has 877 billion of US Treasury Bonds and may want to sell them to put their country together?

It's okay, put down the bong and step away from the computer.

What do Tomahawks have to do with programming that has been weaned from government grants and gets no direct funding from feds at all?

          Point: you have none.

Neither side of the isle wants to take responsibility for this country's debt problem. That's what's wrong with this country.

Tomahawk missiles cost 500k to produce, but if you consider r&d, they are 1.4 mil. http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/smart/bgm-109.htm

NPR gets 0 dollars directly from the government. 2 percent of its revenues come from federal grants given by agencies like the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and the Department of Education. Total revenues for 2010 were 180 million. That is a mere 3.6 million dollars in federal money. http://www.npr.org/about/aboutnpr/pu...ofinances.html

So excuse me, thats equal to 2.57 Tomahawk missiles. My bad.

The point I am trying to make is that we have a fiscal problem in this country. Fox News, the Republican Party and mainstream "conservatives" are quick to criticize 3 million in federal spending for NPR, but won't say a damn thing about the trillion dollars a year we spend on the defense budget and the ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The House even spent considerable time debating the issue, and recently voted to defund NPR. The Dems aren't any better.

The fact that the person who ordered the attacks on Libya was the recipient of a Nobel Peace Prize, further adds to my complete and utter confusion. It's all fucked up. That is my point.

So wait, we should just let a crazy loon blow the crap out of the people that want him out of power because he's a tyrant?

Are you OK if the dictator is starving his people to death? (N. Korea and many others)
What about not protecting human rights in general? (China, N. Korea, Burma, and a number of other countries.)

At what point is the US going to say, "Fuck off, deal with it yourself."

We get all the negatives and virtually nothing positive from being the World's Police.

The worst thing about 2012 is that nowadays, anything you say that's "out of the ordinary" and not mainstream, you're accused of being a 2012 nut job.
