you still dont get that there is A METRIC FUCK TON of taxes BUILT INTO THE PRICE BEFORE YOU FUCKING GET TO PAY THAT 18.4 CENTS, + state +Local + sales tax on the total cost AND THE TAXES.

We are not talking JUST INCOME TAXES, we are talking Property, taxes, import taxes, use taxes, transport taxes, excises taxes, Leases, Royalties (which are way better than 99.999% of private citizens get) PERMITS, ect.... Read my statement more carefully. Remitted more than 3 times earned profit to governments (fed, state and local). Just because its not income taxes does not mean its not a tax any money you give to the govt is a form of TAX

The sooner you guys realize that ALL TAXES are treated as a FUCKING LINE ITEM ON THE BALANCE SHEET and ARE passed on to the final consumer as part of the cost of the good, and thats where the METRIC FUCK TON COMES FROM Not just what you PAY at the retail pump.

The sooner you guys get this concept the better. You raise the taxes on the oil companies by 10% today, the cost of gas WILL GO UP 10% the very next hour. Companies dont pay taxes WE DO!!!!!!!!!

Taxes aren't the issue, oil price is. If don't like it, drive something with better mpg.

If anything, taxes are only bound to go up - with some auto corporations asking for it to help sway consumers to buy more mpg cars or electric/alternative and help them meet CAFE and other standards. (pull demand rather than just trying to push the products onto them)

p.s. all the taxes were about 34% of retail price in 1999. Now half that (because of oil price)

This is all very true

All though I form the last stuff I read (see if I can find it again) current oil pricing (about 100 bucks) makes up about 55% of the price, but you have to remember there are lots of taxes, and govt remittances associated with in that price as well.
