    let them kill themselve

    was having this discussion with some friends the other day and this is what we came up with.

    picture all those people in jail for simple drug charges, the people who got locked away for sticking needles in their arm or puffing on that pipe, the ones who are fiending for their next fix. picture how many people that really is.
    now it costs on average 47k to keep one inmate in prison per year. that is A LOT of money for just one guy, let alone the thousands of minor drug offenders.

    this is what i propose. we let them out. release them, encourage their habbit. why? because it will do several things;
    -save tax payers' money
    -reduce overcrowded prison populations
    -better our economy by an increase in spending and getting cash flow.
    -eventually take the burden off society because the will DIE by their own hand or reason.

    hey, maybe some will come out of the life and that is good, but for the ones that don't, well they will hopefully drug themselves to death and out of our concern.

    discuss.

                well you will see the crime rate go way up, and there for the cost of the keeping the peace. More cops just what we need.

                Next thanks to this you will have more OD's and and injuries associated with the crime rate. The way the system is, no one can be turned away for treatment so when they dont pay we all do. But thanks to 0 care we all will have to pay anyway so you will have more idiots in the er and medical facilities plugging up the works and forcing us all to pay for it anyway, it will just cost more than the old way, because thanks to 0 care the guy that was the victim will be getting treatment on the govt dole as well.

                Really better economy, someone jacking my shit to sell/trade for a fix?? Oh ok I can turn that in on my insurance policy right??? There by making every ones rates go up. Or I now have to go out and spend more of my hard earned money to replace what ever because some dick decided to take something that didnt belong to him, there by stimulating the economy right????

                Over crowded prison?? Ummm yeah its prison not the ritz, dont do the crime if you cant stomach the consequences. Over crowded prison WTF Look up Andersonville some time.

                        We need to move away form the confined institutionalization for all but the most violent and deviant of offenders, and to a shit job labor force. They make them pick up shit along the roads, and other menial labor intensive mind numbing jobs when you are on community service in county jail. Why not turn them into something productive.

                          yeah, public works type jobs.
                          road construciton, public buildings, excavation. sewage treatment facililities.
                          plenty of things people dont want to do that can be put off onto those who do not have a choice.

                            All the stoners act like weed is so harmless and that you are all victims. My neighbor's son has been in jail for the last few years for drugs. He got out a few months ago and my neighborhood, which was a VERY nice and quiet neighborhood, is no longer nice and it is no longer quiet.

                            Since his return we have drug dealing going on and all the scumbag addicts which that attracts. The house across the street was robbed and the suspect is one of the neighbor's friends. There are constantly clapped out Cadillac's and Civics going Mach 4 down the street, and the biggest white trash make their way next door bumping their stereos while waiting for the neighbor to bring a baggie of weed out to their car. There are parties going on til 4am next door, not very fun when you actually have to go to sleep so you can wake up and do something productive for society during the day.
                            I have called the police, as have a few of the other neighbors. The police have been over 4x that I have seen. Annoyingly, two of the times when the Realtor brought people by to check out my house there were 3 cop cars parked outside my neighbor's house. They have made 1 arrest so far, not the neighbor's son, but the crap just keeps happening.

                            It is also no fun when you are on your way to visit a family you know, and you see their daughter walking down the street balling her eyes out and she tells you that her brother owed a dealer some drug money, he didn't pay, and the dealer came in the house and shot everyone they could see, killing the mother and father.

                            Anytime there are addictive substances, the desperate behavior and crime follow.

                            I certainly agree with putting prisoners to work and having them do something productive. I understand the idea behind letting them out so they can kill themselves off, but as I have mentioned above, innocent people are affected by the druggies and I definitely don't want more of them running around.

                              our moms wouldn't be able to walk to the grocery stores anymore. the streets wouldn't really be safe, people trip the fuck out when they're high off that nonsense.
