    Chinese ghost towns

Neat site i just came across. This story is just too weird, I thought it would be an Onion piece.

I didn't like how many times they pointed to civil unrest idea but even though this is truly astonishing it's nothing new from the Chinese government. Their obsession to meet arbitrary goals and ability to hide the consequences has been the theme of the 'revolution' since day one.

dont do any maintenance to your house and see what happens in 6 years. Plaster cracking and what not is very normal on new construction for about 6 years as the structure settles.

I would say a little plaster cracking and minor things falling apart is good considering what can happen with china and construction.

NEW 13 story apartment building tipped over not too long ago as well

I've heard on several occasions that they make good stuff there, it's not what we are used to given the constructed 'as cheaply as possible' exports. So it would not surprise me to see that stuff stand up just fine.. but everything needs maintenance. Once little roof leak can ruin a lot of shit if gone un-noticed.

All I know is that export-wise, the drywall we get is crap, it releases chemicals that will rot out the wiring and plumbing. The wood will crack and split, give you messed up walls after only a few months. The fixtures are made of the weakest metal, even the stainless gets rust spots. They give us shit and people buy it because it's cheapest.

Those ghost cities are downright creepy, but I beleive it given the track record of currency devaluing and all the other tricks they pull.
