Vets. and elderly certainly deserve help from taxpayers, lazy people do not. I know that there is no simple solution or way to define who is deserving of anything but man oh man by the way the laws are defined I am poor enough to qualify for lots of welfare programs + benefits including food stamps, aid for my heating bill in the winter, and others. I take zero of it because I live comfortably within my means and there is no reason why I should take those things from those who REALLY need them.

Would you be willing to carry that attitude towards Military, Medicaid/Medicare?
Both liberal and conservative priorities in spending would have to disappear but
the real question is when can we get rid of the fed?

My goodness, watching the news about these 'debt reduction talks' has all just been a veil of squawking to hide the fact that nothing still, has been done.

I don't think spending will ever truly go down. To many companies, too many organizations, too many people have way too much money invested by our governments hand outs for any of this to change.

Yep, a freeze for three years, then just a REDUCED AMOUNT OF GOV'T GROWTH.

    It's such a joke.

No real cuts have been made

So my understanding is that the cuts are from predicted future spending increases.
