^Yeah, I especially liked the idea to reform the tax code. I'd be all for a lower rate with no deductions so I don't have to jack with all the extra shit come tax time.

You really think the prez will veto it if it gets though??? Yeah right

The courts are where this provision will be killed I would think (and hope)

And yeah thats not how our system was ever envisioned and designed to operate.

What, that you actually have to vote on a bill? That is unconstitutional? You cant just drag it on or change the bill 10 times before you vote on it is protected in the constitution?

There is no statute banning it and its a function of the previous bill, its a condition of the automatic raise of the debt ceiling negotiated and approved by both parties, branches and the president.

I am bitching about the "Super congress" that basically can and will eliminate the possibility of well thought and rigorously debated, prudent legislation...

It basically eliminates the lions share of the peoples representation in the legislative process, by taking the debate, amendment processes along with being able to stop it from going to a vote, away from all but 12 members.

Remember this little jem "taxation with out representation", this will be what it will amount to unless your from a district represented by one of the chose few (who also voted for this abomination of a debt bill, as no one that voted against it can be considered to sit on the panel of 12).

and how long before this little power is going to go beyond the debt and budget deals. When there is "other emergency's" or just becomes standard practice for all bills. Umm yeah not how this kinda thing works, in the USA.

Your representation wont be eliminated. They can easily vote against the bill and suggest one of their own. They just cant change THAT bill or pigeonhole it.

Sure that's what the current situation is but offering minimum would definitely make sure that it would never change.

That's besides the point. The point is that it's very existence, the idea, just does that much more to undermine our democratic process.

It's a good point about our representation being further diminished. Who knows what they could get away with under the guise of budget control.

No those are nightmares, and look at whats going on......

Ryan: If my legislators, dont have a say/hand in making or changing the bill, or stopping it from going to a vote (many mnay a bad bill dies in filibuster). Then my representation is now gone. It will give the party with 50.1% of the vote nearly unilateral conrtol over what get passed and not passed how they see fit. I know this happens as it is now, but this will make it 1000% easier for them to do such things.

                    its not good,
