on a serious note, this would not have happened at the State Fair of TEXAS.
National guard or not, over half of us have guns, and carry them everywhere we go, it would have been a blood bath (with casualties aplenty on both sides).

Something does need to be done to figure out who all was involved, a gathering of this magnitude had to have been organized on some social networking site

I just skimmed the article, but it sounds as if it was racially motivated and the parties involved should be charged with assault at a hate-crime level if it indeed was.

I have had the fortune of getting lost in urban Chicago; me, my GF, in a little gold saturn, surrounded by hundreds of black people crowding the sidewalks and streets. On a couple of occasions people started "briskly" walking towards the car while we were stopped at a stop n go light. Needless to say I didn't wait for a green light.

I agree that it being socioeconomic. Read "Guns, Germs, and Steel" for a historical perspective. Studies have been done on mice that take baby mice from a nurturing mother and baby mice from a mother that is not nurturing and swapped the mothers. The baby mice from the nurturing mother that were raised by the apathetic mother ended up becoming apathetic mothers when they grew up to have offspring. The opposite happened when the nurturing mother raised the children of the apathetic mother, the children grew up to be nurturing mothers. They were able to determine that while it's not genetic, the brain does become "rewired" from the environmental circumstances to create the behavior.

My personal opinion is that blacks in America have had unfortunate circumstances in our history that created a similar apathetic behavior that gets passed down through the generations. This can be said for any race. The wild Whites of West Virginia come to mind. But like any race, the cycle of apathy can be broken within families to produce outstanding citizens. How to break the cycle is difficult to determine for a large group of people.

It's not black individuals that are inherently more violent. It's purely individuals who happen to live in more violent area's. Regardless of their ethnicity.

Also, whether or not more violent areas happen to have a higher population of a single ethnicity over others is completely irrelevant to what ethnicity it is, as any would have the same outcome in the same circumstance.

It just happens to be that more violent area's are inhabited by blacks. The reason as to why is anyone's guess. Anybody can leave an area and start up from scratch somewhere else with nothing more than pennies. People just choose not to.

It's just a matter of people needing to realize that every single person out there in the world is a little racist. Whether it gets the best of them or not is a different story. But there is not, and never will be a society that is completely inept at differentiation amongst their fellows. It's called nature, and yes. We are still merely animals.

I've met a lot that do, and you can see the Jews (Israel) and Slaveowners (Egypt) issues from 2500+ years ago, so, systemically, no, humans don't forget the transgressions against their ancestors.
