You won't get one until someone rips some sentence out of the bible, then twists it so that it accomodates your question and words it so generally, that you won't be able to counter, though may be able to apply the answer to any other non-believer, ie. Mutant Ninja Turtles.

That's what I gather, what I'm more interested in, is how believers deal with this type of thing philosophically, while claiming god is good and just.

refer to Dante's Inferno. Short answer, yes. I heard it in church not too long ago in explaining why people go on mission trips.

Or do native's, like say in the Amazon rainforest, automatically go to Hell because they don't worship a God they've never been privy too?

I'm sure it is comforting to have such an escape, but again that seems as though you're trying to justify your belief to a degree through comfort. I'm not willing to so easily discard what is reasonable to me solely for convenience sake.

ck_taft325is, I noticed you mention Mother Teresa in your post. I think you should read The Missionairy Position. I wouldn't be so quick to give her complete uncritical support without having more information on her, she acted very much in a way which supported her own motives on the spread of religion with humanitarian causes being secondary. This is plainly obvious when the area's which she built to care for the ill provided very little medical help and were more so center's to support religious teachings. I'm by no means saying she's a bad person, just simply that a lot of people only know her for what she was sold as by the media and look past or never knew there was more to her than giving.

It doesn't make it untrue either, some of it is a faith component as well, and that's something you might not have YET but I would look forward to someday having it if I were you, it really is awesome

Im sure this is answered some where but is there a logical response to why god had to die for our sins? doesn't seem so godly.

I agree with you that tons of Christians aren't living It out (even I do not live it out all the time perfectly). but everyone sins and falls short to the glory of God. He knows that and that's why he died for us, All we need is faith about what he did, I wouldn't take what other Christians do wrong as an example of why not to believe something isn't true. It is your own choice and I'm not pushing anything on you :)

Back that up with something other conjecture?

    Greg, that was amazing

Cale, read some Timothy Keller. Regardless if you believe in God or Faith or Religion or the Christ or anything else, he's a provoking read without being inflammatory or falling onto the spear of so many other "intellectual" thinker's pit falls. It's a shame so many smart people are marred by the ease in which other people claim to be Christian or otherwise. If Christian's must bear the burden of all the short comings of Humanity then why can't they have some of the good? Mother Teresa, the Red Cross... etc, etc... There's been a many good things out of Christianity regardless of the very rampant recent popular (and polarized) sentiment towards them. There's always going to be things people in general disagree on. Christian's are no different nor should they be treated as such. So, unless you can over look some of their short comings and things that YOU don't personally find attractive or easy to swallow and Christian's can do the same, I see no reason in the slightest to degrade or disregard any person's intelligence on those subjects or in general. I've said it before on here and I think everyone on a "real life" basis, and not so much the pseudo bullshit internet bravado can agree: No one's perfect and frankly people need to approach these things with a sense of humility instead of arrogance.

No where, not once in the Bible does it claim that you (Christian's) need to press their beliefs on others out of hatred or disdain. If you do force your views on someone with anything but caring and concern due to your overt love for them (yeah, I said Love homo's) then you've failed Christ which you claim to follow. There's nothing in this world that's beyond us getting over when it comes to relationships and getting to know one another. The only subjects or behaviors we cannot, as any civilization condone are those atrocities which we all know, deep down or not, are not right (Read: Rape, Murder (not killing, Murder. As in cold blooded murder), and the like)

Carry on. I have no desire to participate in a conversation where my intelligence will be under a microscope and every little tiny detail or word will be analyzed in the Bible so as to discredit another's beliefs. There's no point in participating in unbridled hatred or animosity.

    Carry on, fellas.

Theoretically, yes. While that is not what the Bible teaches do to, one can argue that is all that is needed. As some people have said earlier in this thread, its kind of sad to see how some "Christians" today are. I know a lot of people who refer to themselves as "Christians" simply because they have no other "label".
