I bought stock in BNSF about 7 years ago. Was a good buy. -
Gotta love it.
Not enough time to decide? The pipeline has been being studied since 2008, don't be surprised if it get's approved after the election if Obama wins.
The area in Nebraska already has 25,000 linear miles of pipe, with no environmental cost.
Unfortunately the "Green" movement is really a cover for the "Anti-Capitalist" movement...............what is the best driver of Capitalism?

ummmm yeah BN along with armys of truckers are hauling Bakken formation oil outta the Williston Basin in ND to hubs to be shipped via pipeline to refiners. So yeah you have a few dozen guys to crew those trains, and a couple of hundred more in support staff to keep the RR hauling.
That pipeline job (not including all the loops and feeder lines) Will be at least 12 US, spreads, if not more, and each spread will put at least 800 guys to work, and peek at closer to double+ that before the main line welds out, and the tie-ins are in full swing, while back, fill and restoration are getting started. There is at least 8k guys employed for the best part of a year. Not to mention guys that have been there for the last few years doing the prelim and lay out work for this thing prolly out number the amount of guys BN is useing to haul oil. Then you have to add in the fact that every little restaurant, gas station, camp ground, hotel, laundromat, and any other service a person uses will see a HUGE influx of cash to support those 800-2000 HIGH paid workers. Thats even more jobs that would be a direct benefit for at least a year. This is not even taking into consideration the 100's jobs at the multiple pipe mills that will have to gear up and run 3 shifts for MONTHS to make the pipe at 25-30k dollars a pop, the foundries that will make all the fittings and valves and other necessary shit, Welding rods, wooden skids by the millions, the 1000's of pieces of heavy equipment that will be bought or leased, trucks bought or leased. Shall I continue, this is a 7 BILLION dollar job all privately funded and ready to go.
After is all said and done yeah operations may only have 50-100 maintenance guys for the entire US section from the Canadian boarder to the Cushing hub. But thats not too far off from what BN is useing to haul much less oil outta the Bakken than this thing will.
I build these things for a living and am very much looking forward to the 2 northern spreads in Montana so I might be able to work with in 6 hours of my house for once :)
Edit: Not only does Buffet and BN benefit from this, but Obammy's buddy George Soros is HEAVILY invested in Venezuelan oil..... which is close to what would be shipped from alberta, heavy crude, to a couple of the only refineries that are designed specifically for that grade of crude. Just like after the BP incident in the gulf, Obammy gives Petrobras (Brazilian national oil company) 2 Billion in US tax payer money to drill in 14k feet of water while shutting down domestic production in the gulf. Guess who also has a HUGE stake in Pertobras yup George Soros. Blocking the XL was as much pandering to the coasts (green tards, and the occutards protesting capitalism) for the votes as is was to benefit his financiers (you know the 1% of the 1%)Last edited by mrsleeve; 01-25-2012, 05:49 PM.The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money. -Alexis de TocquevilleOriginally posted by FusionIf a car is the epitome of freedom, than an electric car is house arrest with your wife titty fucking your next door neighbor.

I understand what you are saying and I wasnt necessarily against the pipe line but those jobs are not permanent or careers, those will rise and fall with economy. The bnsf jobs those are permanent, even the sub contracted jobs. I wouldn't be surprised if they started a double track on those lines, that's what I was doing for up on our busiest line and most profitable line. Railroads are forever, construction on the other hand is cynical and I rather have a forever group of jobs that provide an income that will make up the dwindling middle class and don't use social security. Rail road retirement FTW!!!ummmm yeah BN along with armys of truckers are hauling Bakken formation oil outta the Williston Basin in ND to hubs to be shipped via pipeline to refiners. To add to what I also said this project is a boom bust project, it's tough to be picky on a huge money making and job providing project but this will negatively affect the states in our next recession when all those small business go bust when the project finishes and or stops. Not necessarily what poor states need or what rural towns need.1985 BMW 325e

Why would they go out of business if they're currently already in business when the work starts? I think that's very unrealistic of what that money brings the areas where this line may go in. It's like saying a good year for a business will sink it.To add to what I also said this project is a boom bust project, it's tough to be picky on a huge money making and job providing project but this will negatively affect the states in our next recession when all those small business go bust when the project finishes and or stops. Your not really getting it, those are existing businesses that will see a HUGE surge in business and when we are all done with the project, they will go back to just taking care of the locals. To add to what I also said this project is a boom bust project, it's tough to be picky on a huge money making and job providing project but this will negatively affect the states in our next recession when all those small business go bust when the project finishes and or stops. Some of the more remotes sections may have to resort to man camps to house a good portion of the guys, because there is just no place to stay with in a 100 miles sometimes more
Pipelines are not going away, most of them were put in 30+ years ago, and need to replaced. We all will just move on to the next one, or do like I have been doing most of the last 4 years building gathering lines in the Natural gas fields out east. there is a 20-30 year careers worth of work in some of these fields, not to mention the bakken and other oil/gas plays. We have the resources and the work.Last edited by mrsleeve; 01-25-2012, 06:03 PM.The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money. -Alexis de TocquevilleOriginally posted by FusionIf a car is the epitome of freedom, than an electric car is house arrest with your wife titty fucking your next door neighbor.

I'm referring to the local business of restaurants, gas stations, laundry services, hotels all the places that you and I use......After a boom, MOST businesses bust a year after it slows down. Most businesses can not sustain a loss like that what will happen when your done. Layoffs and business closures will not help the local economies after this is finished. Not exactly what this economy needs. I'm not against this project but this project is better served when the economy recovers.1985 BMW 325e

they are existing places of business, supported by the local population. They will just have a bumper year and make obscene amount of money then go back to their normal amount of business. How will the shutter if they were there BEFORE we come through????The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money. -Alexis de TocquevilleOriginally posted by FusionIf a car is the epitome of freedom, than an electric car is house arrest with your wife titty fucking your next door neighbor.
