Yes but alot of them have to live with the effects from those schooling systems. Alcoholic/drug addicted parents etc.

This is a big problem in Canada, especially in the prairies (at least from my narrow point of view, I'm not pretending that I've ever been there before).

It's easy to be angry, and scapegoats are very easy to create.

The fact that a lot of the prairie land is being sold off to Big Oil isn't helping, but as far as we're made aware the reserve limits are both respected and in some cases the oil companies even help out the locals.

This video identifies the sad key problem with many aboriginal communities:

Most of the remote regions in central Australia are Aboriginal communities with a handful of mission and social workers. A few close friends have actually been placed as these workers in some regions, they say the main problem is they refuse to make their children go to school and insist their own traditional teachings are more important, then demand compensation as their kids 'aren't getting equal employment opportunities'. This money is spent on drugs and alcohol, which leads to crime and assault..

Aboriginal communities have the highest crime, assault and sexual assault rates in the country. So pretty much you don't go outside at night.

My old school and another in the area, who run some of the missions that go to these remote areas now have a number scholarships for Indigenous kids. They all love the experience and love going to school and doing their homework. We have to tutor them as majority of them attended school scarcely back home. So far, only three have not liked it because they were home sick.

They get a bad wrap, but that is because, sadly, the majority are. They expect everything from the government, but say the "whites" (for lack of a better word) are racist the second it is suggested they try to better their lives and situation (get an education, etc.) with the money given to them instead of wasting it.
        Tim.
